The Official Lakers Thread

Los Angeles Lakers ‏@Lakers

Injury Update: Kobe Bryant has a fracture of the lateral tibial plateau in his left knee. He is expected to miss 6 weeks.

I feel bad for Kobe.

He was the best player on 2 championship teams, IMO. He had a good run. During those championship years he was an OK defender, good rebounder, an extremely efficient scorer, and the best ballhandler/passer at his position (he almost did a 2:1 a:to ratio, and centers never do that).

Steve Blake joined Kobe Bryant and Magic Johnson as the only Lakers in the last 25 seasons to have a triple-double with at least 15 assists.

They have so many problems on their roster. Wouldn't touch that job if I was a coach with a decent job already. But I'm sure some coach will jump at the chance.

They are in trouble for the next three years. They should have dropped Kobe and everyone and built through the draft.

They're officially the "other" LA team and will remain so for the foreseeable future. If Oprah, Geffen and Ellison are able to buy the Clippers, they'll have the Lakers outclassed from top to bottom.

Yeah, would have been a smart move on both sides. Kobe could help some other team if he was willing to take less money. But Kobe is Kobe.

Nash should move on as well. Maybe retire. Don't know if he can keep up anymore. He's one of my favorites though.

Even building through free agency (which could have been done) would have been the better plan than what they are currently doing. Giving 1/3 of your money to Kobe Bryant is absurd.

We will be back by the end of the decade.

Aim big lol.

They just need to get rid of Kobe/Gasol/Nash and approach rebuilding the way the Rockets did. Work hard during the draft. FA's will come.

The Lakers made a bad move with Kobe and his contract. But what have they done right under this current leadership?
