Face it. It's not an excuse, it's reality. Luck plays a role.
If your theology posits God deciding every roll of the dice, rather than just interceding in important or requested moments, then attribute accordingly. (Just please don't tell us from your mortal, finite vantage why the Omniscient Almighty chose as He did. You only insult Him.)
If the ref had a different angle, I'm sure he would have seen Stokes' shoulder passing between the defenders and not have called a charge. As posted, in the course of a game there's a hundred other "coulda been different" moments.
Whether you call it luck, Satan's mischief, or God's will, it's part of the game (and life) and shouldn't be blamed on coaches or players... or refs with insufficient angles though not out-of-position.
