No one has to explain to you why it was a bad call, if you couldn't see it for yourself then that is on you. Maybe you had Michigan advancing in your fantasy basketball bracket and that is why you are defending that b.s. call. You should have already been informed that there are no perfect brackets so that billion dollars will go unclaimed, sorry.

It wasn't a charge. And we only played zone a few possessions. Take some of your own advise and learn the sport before you start taking ish to others.

If you watch the play closely slowed down, it is not even Stokes shoulder that comes in contact with the Michigan player. It is his back. He was moving to the right to go around the defender which is also how the ball got smacked away by the help defense. Total BS call. On a 50/50 call in the final seconds the ref should swallow his whistle. Period.

I my opinion, the Vols had a chance to win the game and had it taken away from them. Vols should/could have make some other baskets that were close in and foul shots too that could/should have won the game against the Wolverines Still proud of our guys!

I agree it was a flop but it would been a michigan steal if the ref didnt call anything.

Wasn't that the classical wasy to split a double team? You can't dribble standing strIght up in that situation...unless you WANT to turn the ball over.

Not wanting to cause a turmoil; I just don't understand the call. Is there anyone on this thread that is cognizant of the new rules AND unbiased? I know it's a Vol site; but surely someone is fair and unbiased enough to give a definitive answer.

It was an obvious flop. He arched his back and threw himself down shoulders first. I still can't believe the ref called a charge in that situation. It was still a good run though. Hopefully Stokes comes back next season and hubbs develops into a consistent scorer. If these two things happen Tennessee will be dancing again next March.

That was a tone setting call that usually happens in the first few minutes of the game letting players know how the game will be officiated. It was a call that could have went either way. With the situation and the time left in the game I don't think you blow the whistle and let the play happen. Stokes did charge but when the defenders feet are not set and he is already leaning back you just let the play happen. With that said if we would have decided to start playing smart with more than 10 minutes to go in the game this call would not have had the impact that it did. Good run and really happy with the effort this team played with down the stretch. I cannot wait to see Richardson take the reins to this offense next season. GBO!

That play has been called a block all season. Also, it would have been a charge if Stokes dislodged Morgan with a shoulder, but if you look at the play, and not Morgan's reaction, you will see Morgan sells the shoulder when in fact, Stokes has his back turned, and makes no contact with the shoulder.

"Under the revised block/charge call in men's basketball, a defensive player is not permitted to move into the path of an offensive player once he has started his upward motion with the ball to attempt a field goal or pass," according to the new rule. "If the defensive player is not in legal guarding position by this time, it is a blocking foul. Previously, a defender had to be in legal guarding position when the offensive player lifted off the floor."

Not really- the same exact kind of out of bounds call happened in the Louisville Kentucky game…it was impossible to tell live (during play) who the ball went off of in both games. So the referee made a call. On camera there was no indisputable video evidence in both games. Exact same situation happened in the UoL and UK game and our game with the exact same results. In both cases refs had to go with the call on the court, period.

I think one could also make a very strong argument that the call at the end of the game on Stokes was ticky-tacky at the most, if not absolutely wrong. So to heck with your supposedly "take it like a man" - if you like being bent over and taking it then by all means "be a man." lol.

I was watching the game with mostly Louisville and UK fans, all of them felt like we got screwed over by the referees. Sure some people are "homer" fans but what do you expect? We are fanatics (fans) of a team in orange- of course our glasses are bit tinted, so what?
