The Official Indianapolis Colts Thread

Oh I can take it. But when you come in here trying to tell me he had a bad game when the clear evidence is he did not is what I can't take. Did he play perfect? No. Did he play good for a guy in his second start and playing against the best D in the league, yes.

The evidence is not on your side

Luck leads rally but Colts fall to Steelers 26-24 - Yahoo! Sports

Give him hell, VFJ!!! Hey, no one said we were annointing him the MVP. I simply stated my frame of mind as of today, If I had my choice of the 3 intended starting QB's: Luck (IND), Gabbert (JAX), Locker (TEN), I would chose Luck and not have any question about it. If the Titans fans prefer Locker, thats great, we'll know for sure in the years to come. Given Luck's background, his physical assets, and what he has demonstrated in 2 preseason games, I feel very good about Colts QB position.

Haha I am used to Titans fans living here in Middle Tenn, I can deal with them. Trueorange has always been fair and level headed. I agree he has not proved anything yet but like you I would take him over any of the other 3 you mentioned. Could he be a bust, absolutely but nothing about him would suggest he will be.

Only Andrew Luck could have been at the crux of a discussion that, by our estimation, produced a ground-breaking moment in sports morning show history.

Tuesday morning on “NFL AM” all three analysts agreed that the Indianapolis Colts’ signal-caller would have the best 2012 season of the starting rookie quarterbacks.

Former Pro Bowl cornerback Eric Davis went so far as to say Luck would have the former 2-14 Colts in the playoff hunt this year.

“I think the Colts will be a player in the wild card,” Davis said. “I really do believe this team will not be as bad as they were last year and he will be a major reason for it.

I hope he is right but I think this could be a stretch. Maybe if they stay injury free but even then I don't think they can win 8 or 9.

How's the 3-4 transition looking? Particularly the ends transition to LB?

Haven't been able to catch any preseason action.

Jerry Hughes has looked the best really. I believe he has had 3 sacks. I think they are wanting Chapman to get healthy to play the NT spot. It's going to take some time getting used to it for them, I think Mathis has looked better than Freeney so far but neither has played a whole lot.

It's odd from a fan perspective seeing LBs rush and against the Steelers they sent a safety blitz.

Just out of curiosity are any Colts fans also going to be pulling for Denver (when they aren't playing Indy of course) now that they have Peyton?

I will pull for Peyton and Denver when they are not playing Indy or it does not effect the Colts at all, like playoff spot or seeding. He did way too much for the franchise for me not to pull for him.

Good to hear and believe me we are very excited to be fortunate enough to have a QB like Manning at the helm (especially after going through the Tebow Era)

I know you are. So are you a new Broncos fan or long time? He def made the right choice going to Denver to work with a great like Elway, a really good D and good young receivers.

Sure, I hope Denver does well this year. Colts are several years away from being contenders again. For Denver, its now or never.

You could be right but I think they could be contenders maybe as early as next season. If Luck continues like he has played so far and progresses, they have tons of cap space after this season and after Houston the division is not great.

What are your expectations for this season? I am thinking 6-10.

6-10 sounds about right. I want to see the offense vastly improved in passing game, defensive secondary more aggressive even if it means giving up occasional big plays. Lets find out who to keep in the secondary after this year.

As far as the secondary Powers is really good, he laid Rainey out the other night and of course Bethea is good.

Something to be on the lookout for this afternoon, Jim Irsay tweeted something about a trade. Some are guessing it could be Freeney to the Eagles.

John Clayton's QB rankings

Schaub - 11
Luck - 24
Locker - 29
Gabbert - 32

Not bad seeing the guy has never taken a regular season snap.

I'm sold on Luck, I think he's the guy. The defense will be a work in progress, can't speculate on when it'll be there to make us competitive.

I've been a Broncos fan for over 20 years now. Best of luck this season to your Colts and hopefully you'll enjoy watching Manning as well.

Love the trade for Vontae Davis. We have 2 really good CBs and a pretty darn good starting secondary if everyone stays healthy

The Davis trade makes sense to me. Colts desperately needed another CB who can cover. The only risk I see is if he is a cancer to the team and we lose a high 2nd round pick for a net negative. Even if he's not in the best shape, he's better than what the Colts have now.

I'm not sure what his issues were with Miami. Hopefully with new surroundings, new coaching staff, he will keep his head on straight.

He will walk in and be the other starting CB right away.

When he got released he tweeted something like, thank god I am out of here.
The risk is worth the reward.
