The Official Indianapolis Colts Thread

You and the other justin could very well be correct.

I don't believe Spags said anything in particular that would have led to the firing of Jim Caldwell. Jim Caldwell went to Indianapolis and was sitting in the room during the interview, apparently. I highly doubt that there would have been some sort of comment that would then prompt Colts leadership to fire Caldwell at that time. The only thing I can think of is that during the interview, Irsay and Grigson decided that Spags would be a better head coach than the guy currently occupying the position. That is the only plausible explanation for the Spags interview having an effect on Caldwell's position.

I am not suggesting he said anything that led to him being fired. It sounds like Irsay and Grigson would have been ok with Caldwell as HC as long as Spag agreed to be DC, when he turned them down I think they figured they would be better off starting over. I don't see any scenario where Spag is the HC I am 98% sure he is the next DC at the Saints.

There's no way he could be worse.

Never trust Irsay. My guess is Manning is out of there come March. Irsay will hire a yes man and draft Luck and the Colts will suck for years to come. Luck will get his arse beat because the rest of the team is not at a good NFL level talent wise. The reason for that is because Polian relied so much on Manning to carry the team.

I can sort of get on board with this. Still seems unlikely to me, but you're the Colts expert, sir. :hi:

As much as I appreciate that, I am no expert. I have just listened, read what's out there and tried to put the pieces of this puzzle together. It's weird how it all went down, no question about it.

Just read y'all's DB coach is about to be the DC @ Minnesota. What's his name? Alan Williams?

Yea that's right, I am not sure what they see there. I hope Vikings fans watching the game from home don't expect to see their DBs in the picture.

First person to officially interview for the job is the Titans DC, Jerry Gray. Hopefully this is just to satisfy the Rooney rule.

From everything you hear coming directly from the Colts it's pretty clear they are officially going to rapid rebuild mode. If Peyton was coming back and going to be a Colt I don't see them firing everyone and having Peyton start fresh with a new staff and offense coming off a serious injury. I think this is the end for Peyton,Saturday,Wayne and maybe even Mathis in Indy.

I keep going back and forth on Peyton, Irsay keeps saying if he is healthy he will be a Colt. Ron Prince and Clyde Christianson appear to be kept from the previous staff. So potentially the offense might stay the same or close to it. If Peyton is back I think Saturday comes back but they will have to choose between Mathis and Wayne. If Peyton does not return then it for sure is rebuild mode and all of them are gone.

I read that Marty Mornhinweg is the leader in the clubhouse for Colts HC.

OT games should be interesting.

Tressel has no shot at being the next coach

Mike Zimmer will also interview for the job.

So as of now we know: Jerry Gray, Pete Carmichael and Mike Zimmer will be interviewed.

Well I said no chance on Tressel but it's REALLY looking like that's who it will be....reactions? As a Colts diehard I honestly hate it if that' what happens...I may change my mind if he does a good job but at this point I'm not happy with it at all!
