The Official Indianapolis Colts Thread

Not like Collins even had a good game, but Curtis Painter is straight-up trash. I really don't care if he's their current backup, cut him now and save some money.

Well, I've changed my opinion. The colts are a mediocre to bad team without Peyton Manning. They are not a horrible abomination, at least not tonight.

I was actually rooting for the Colts in this game. Mathis, Freeney, Painter, Addai and Garcon impressed.

Good luck the rest of the season, but 4 wins is the max. This isn't a bad thing considering the next draft is QB top heavy.

Just a little editing I did for Colt fans;

Painter did look decent for the first time in his career on the scoring drive where it appeared that Peyton was calling in audibles to him. I was rooting for the Colts. They put up a good fight.

Same, they showed heart and a little more talent than we all thought they had, but this Steelers team is not the same elite squad of years past. Not even sure they're playoff material.

not uncommon for that to be the case with the loser of the previous year's Super Bowl (oddly enough)

Painter played well, if he hits Garcon on that stop and go that game could have went a different direction. Going forward Painter should be the QB over Collins. Defense played well, especially front 4 and our LBs did when they didn't have to drop into that soft zone which they did way too much. Positives: Addai and the running game, Oline played well. Angerer could be a really good MLB, Freeney and Mathis, DTs played well I am really excited about Nevis going forward.

Garcon still drops too many balls. Could've extended a drive in the first half on a really nice pass from Collins. I don't remember exactly where they were, but I think the Colts would've been in FG range had he held on.

Told you the Colts matched up well with the Steelers.

I agree that Painter deserves the starting role. It will still be a horrific season but he deserves the chance to play as the starter without worrying that any mistake and he gets yanked. At least at the end of the season, we'll have a good idea how good(bad) he truly is.

Is there a rule that disallows Peyton (or any non-coach) from having the direct feed into the QB's helmet? Like the announcers noticed, seems like you would want him to be able to communicate directly as opposed to sending the message through the coaches.

Terrible drop, with his speed if he holds onto that they are for sure in fg range he may even score. But he had an ok game.

Either way it will be a bad year, but let's see what he has. He can't be any worse than Collins has been.

Those guys were on fire last night, I loved how they kept replaying Ben running for his life and trying to look back and find those 2.

and gave the db a free shot because of it

It was truly unbelievable, how fast they got into the backfield.

it almost looked like the tackles were starting a split second early just to deal with it.

they matched up well last night

Would not surprise me at all, but I have had the Colts flagship station on all morning and no one has said anything about it. I have thought for a while now that he will miss the whole season.

I'm probably wrong, but I thought that the helmet feed had to be cut off so many seconds before the snap, thus Peyton would not really be able to send him adjustments to make at the line.

ESPN was reporting he will likely miss the rest of the season

....same basic thing, but I don't think his wording was so much "he's definitely done"
