The Official Indianapolis Colts Thread

Hate to tell you justin, but while the cards did make it back to the playoffs last season, there's unfortunately a pretty strong trend of the losing team not making the playoffs the next season

and the losing team hasn't made it back to the the super bowl since the Buffalo Bills run in the 90s

That is true, it will be interesting to see how this team responds. Like I said they could have a huge hangover from it next season or come out like gangbusters, who knows. Also if we look at last season the team that lost made the playoffs and the team that won it did not. So you never know. The Colts are still by far the best team in the AFC South.

right, it all depends on how they come out (although with the parity nature in football, the last statement is a bit more seasonal; you could say though that they are easily talented enough to make the playoffs next year)

the cards and actually the seahawks broke the trend but it went from like 2001 to 2006 or 2007 so it may still stand

The Texans are truly the only team that could fight us for the division I believe, they are the second most talented team in our division. I am interested to see how they handle some success, they closed on a high note but will also have to play the other divisions 2nd place team, so their schedule will be a little more difficult than it usually is.

I don't expect for us to go 14-2 next season even thought I believe we will be a better team.

it's just the way the parity in this league works though; the Texans could get like 2 guys they need on D to make theirs sound; the jags could have that great turn it around; even the titans get better, teams in this league all flip-flop so much each and every year

I think the only time you can say you're far better/beyond everyone else in your division is when you've got a situation like the cardinals did - you come back from the super bowl and every team in your division is all teams losing-record god awful (like STL rams bad)

colts have...i want to say it's either 4th or 7th toughest schedule next season (only ones i know for certain are texans & titans tied for toughest schedule in league)

Should be another solid year...some good draft pics and pickups but I'm worried about Painter as our only backup QB

So how does everyone feel about this year?

Will win atleast 11 games, win the division and a great shot and getting back to the super bowl. I am really interested in seeing if any of these rookies can help in the return game and if we can get a running game going.

Rookie to watch: Angerer

make the playoffs without a doubt, win the division unless this is one of those year's where HOU or TEN suddenly turns into world beaters

honestly don't see super bowl again, though I can see a deep playoff run

so far, surprisingly, most of the analysis on Brandon James and the other rookie from the NFL analysts have been "meh" / "same old" in regards to the return game....though they are expecting that he'll be given more of a shot at punt return as the preseason goes on

He didn't look great against San Fran, I don't recall Fisher even getting a chance to return. But it was only one preseason game and they are rookies. They can't be any worse than what we have had.

As we know the super bowl is very tough to get to, but this is still one of the best teams in the league and they have as good of a chance as anyone. If the o line can get healthy, get more out of the run game and Sanders can get healthy and stay healthy I feel real good about getting back to super bowl.

Like butter.

If the Colts can get a top 10 running game they'll be unbeatable.

The Packers are gonna struggle this year without Al Harris and their big DT Jolly

I honestly think their issue is pretty much - as someone said on this board earlier:

Do you agree with my thought that this team may score 50 a game this year but may give up 45?

their offense will be pretty great but their defense won't be that much better

oh....as an undrafted FA, muffing a punt like that can't help the case for keeping Brandon James on the roster....especially if all the analyst reports on him during summer and preseason have been just "meh"

Question I want some input from some Colts fans on:

I've been watching the Colts-Texans game up here. I noticed Dallas Clark - who was a huge target last season - really hasn't had anything thrown his way today, but receivers like Collie and Gonzalez have gotten quite a bit.

I'm wondering, from anyone who might have been watching, does it seem like the Colts have changed up their passing offense?

I get this feeling that now - with so many healthy and pretty good options - they've switched it out to, i guess, passing more like the Saints use; that whole spread the love to every receiver, but in this case focus being mainly on using the 4 wideouts and HB when passing

......does that make sense at all?

Maybe Clark is being shunned by Peyton for the groping incident?

This is going to be a long season if the offensive and defensive lines play like they did yesterday. We are back to not being able to stop the run and as much as I love Bob Sanders hopefuly he's done in Indy after this season. The guy isn't worth the $$ to have him injured every season.

Bob Sanders is the most fragile guy in the game. Great player when healthy but the Colts should negotiate a contract based on participation with him rather than the delusion he will play more than a handful of games.
