The Official Indianapolis Colts Thread

I really thought we were in trouble in the second quarter, but at half being down only 4 I thought our guys had taken their best shot. The D played really well ouside of just about 2 or 3 plays. To hold that team to 87 yards rushing was great. When Peyton and the O gets rolling there is nothing any D can do about it but sit back and watch.

Yeah I knew when we scored right before half we would be alright. Since we played that type of game all year.

Against Rex Ryan and 3-4 defenses it usually takes our offense, the first half to figure it out, but when Peyton does it's over. To score 30 points on that defense is impressive and I also think Reveis is a little over hyped. He is good but Wayne and Collie shook him out of his shoes.

Peyton and the offense will carve up the Saints D. I am so excited, I wish we could play the Super Bowl tonight.

He wasn't ever on Collie, and Wayne's numbers were way down for this game. I'm not a Jets fan, but Revis is very, very good.

He came over and tried to tackle Collie after he made a catch and Collie made him look silly. He is very good but some people want to act like he is the best ever and no one can catch passes on him.

Yeah it is hard to live up to as high as expectations as what it seems Revis is under. Covering the people he is assigned to cover it is almost impossible to not get caught on some. He is told to cover the best of the best in the NFL and does a pretty darn good job of it.

I'll eat crow about this one, I was totally wrong about Indy...

Apparently playing well going into the playoffs is an outdated concept in the NFL, like the idea of defense winning championships.

It certainly was this year. Of the Final 4, only the Jets were playing great at the end of the season.

The starters were playing well going into the playoffs, and the defense has played great in their two playoff games.

I'm rooting for the Saints in the SB, still. Not predicting a win for them at all, but I still feel that the Colts ownership and management spit in the face of history and their fanbase by not attempting the undefeated season, and that they don't deserve the world title if they don't play to win every game.

I know there are those of you that defend it saying it's within the rules for them to do so and not be penalized, and they deserved it, but for me the bottom line is they played disingenuous football which I find detestable and unacceptable.

Go Saints.

If they win the Super Bowl, how do they not deserve it? I understand the point you are trying to make, but the last game is all that really matters.

When it comes to football, the single thing I hate most is players or a team mailing it in. Once they do, they make my s-list for a long time.

If they had gone undefeated or at least made an honest attempt to win all their games, then I would be 100% behind Peyton and Co.

And I normally dislike the Saints and root against them, but I'd rather see them win than a team who decided not to give it their all for the whole season.

That's all I'm saying. I hope fate bounces the ball in favor of the Saints next Sunday.

To each their own, but I don't see how making plans and thinking if everyone is healthy you can get to the Super Bowl, why that takes away from anything. You don't play for undefeated seasons, you play for where they are going next game. They felt that keeping Peyton healthy was a key, they took care of the Ravens and the Jets, and now they are in the Super Bowl and as a Colts fan I could care less about the 72 Dolphins.

so it's ok with you that Brees didn't even play vs the Panthers in week 17 but not ok for Manning? At least PM played in every game for his team unlike Brees

I don't like that either but the saints weren't shooting for perfection. not that im excusing that. I just like having a dog in the fight, and im still disappointed in the colts for not taking their shot.

at least if they win, pm is further legitimized which is good for ut football. I just really wanted to see him succeed where cbb and tom brady failed.

If the Colts win this Super Bowl I am not sure if he could get anymore legitimized. He will be put in the same catagory with the best to have ever played.
You should let it go, we Colts fan for the most part have moved past this debate. There is a Super Bowl in less than 2 weeks and that is ultimately the #1 goal.

I get it. And that's what I meant. Right now PM seems to be in the discussion as "among the best of all time" whereas if he wins next Sunday with a good or better performance, then he becomes arguably the best ever. Which I would love.

I'm never, ever going to let go of teams not playing to win games, though.

I the Pats had rested their players in the last week they would have had Welker for their playoff game against the Ravens, which could have changed the outcome of that game. He probably won't even be ready for most of next season. If someone told me my team would go 14-2 in the regular season and be in the Super Bowl would I take it? I say absolutely. This team has accomplished every one of their goals so far, win the AFC South, clinch home field advantage throughout the playoffs and win the AFC. Only 1 more to go.

Guys I still believe we are the best team in the NFL and better than the Saints by about 10-14 points. After the first qtr our guys played tight and appeared nervous.
Freeney was about 60% healthy
Larry Coyer all of a sudden got scared to bring linebackers
Our corners were way to soft in coverage

Going forward into next season this loss will either stay with this team and next season they will have a hangover and go about 10-6 or this could motivate them to come out like gang busters.
Freeney will be healthy
Hopefully Sanders, Gonzo and Jackson can get back
We played most of the season with 2 rookie corners, they are good but very inexperienced this should pay off for us in the coming seasons.

Hate to tell you justin, but while the cards did make it back to the playoffs last season, there's unfortunately a pretty strong trend of the losing team not making the playoffs the next season

and the losing team hasn't made it back to the the super bowl since the Buffalo Bills run in the 90s
