The Official Indianapolis Colts Thread

The game against the Jets wasn't the first game the Colts have played with 2 backups on the OL. Charlie Johnson and Ryan Lilja have been out for several weeks with Ugoh and Richard starting in their place.

The Colts will have 2 weeks to get "healthy" for their first playoff game. Polian needs to stop playing the "health" card... the strategy has NEVER worked in the past. I'd much rather take an UNBEATABLE team into the playoffs.

The difference is, Sunday they played the starters into the 3rd QTR, in past years they would play 1 or 2 series then they would be sat. How did it work for this team last season when they had to all but win out just to make it in the playoffs?

If I asked you before the season: our team is going to be 14-1 through 15 games, will you take that? What would you have said?

Again that's lame....he's not missed a start in 12 years. How likely is it that it would have happened? Why is it more likely it would happen in the 4th quarter as opposed to the first quarter?

And no, they were NOT clear they weren't going for the 16-0. They said business as usual, and again WHY play the entire Jags game? No matter how you spin it, that decision now makes no sense because that game was completely meaningless and they could have easily just played a half and stayed active. You certainly can't say they were clear they weren't going to go for 16-0 when you wait til 5:00 left in the 3rd quarter to pull starters.

You act like since he has never been hurt that he is just freaking Superman and can't get hurt. Football is a physical and violent game. These guys are getting hit by some hugh men and they have lineman and linebackers falling around their legs all the time, anything can happen.

How many games had Brady missed coming into their first game last season?

You're spinning in circles here...if you truly agree with them being taken out because of risk of injury, then you SHOULD be mad they played almost 3/4 of the game and all of the Jacksonville game. Their chances of getting hurt in that time is just as bad if not greater than the fourth quarter of the Jets game. It's not like some magical switch turns on that suddenly the chances of injury jump up 90% in the fourth quarter. Any of the gloom and doom you're preaching about them finishing could have easily happened prior to to that.

I am not spinning at all, you can't completely shut it down so early that they lose timing and rhythm. Going a full month without playing would equal a first round exit.

What team are you a fan of?

Yes you are spinning, what part of "They could have easily just played the first half of both the Jax and Jets games" do you not understand? You keep bringing up "losing timing and rhytm" yet I've already pointed out the they could have easily obtained that without subjecting the starters to 1 and 3/4 games; which if injury was TRULY the reason then playing them that long makes no sense at all.

Who I root for has absolutely nothing to do with this discussion.

Since you seem to have all the answers, what was TRULY the reason they sat them then?

Answer the question, who is your team?

An NFL offense can't play 1 half for 3 games and keep timing. Like I said before, if Peyton had played and got his leg broke you would be on here saying Caldwell is such an idiot he should have pulled the starters.

it would have been a bad deal if peyton got hurt, but it would be much easier for the fans to forgive that with a perfect season on the line. that is NFL history. i thought it was bs they got pulled as well. i am not a huge colts fan, but i am a big peyton fan. caldwell should have let them finish the game IMO.

Winning a Super Bowl is NFL history also.

yes, but my point is the fans could have forgiven that easier as they were persuing a perfect season. he could have just as easily gotten hurt on the first drive as the last.

As a fan I would have never forgiven Caldwell if Peyton got hurt in a meaningless game.

Ridiculous.

My problem with your "analysis" is you seem to blindly agree that how they did it was perfect. Why is the 5:00 mark in the 3rd quarter the "best" time to pull them. You keep saying everyone would be pissed if Manning had gotten hurt, and you said you'd never forgive Caldwell if he had gotten hurt in a "meaningless game". So what if had torn his ACL on the first drive of the 3rd quarter?

If you have read my posts, I have said more than once there is no perfect answer. What don't you understand about that statement?

The fact you won't tell me who your team is tells me a lot.

And what exactly does it tell you? That if my team is somehow a rival of the Colts that means you disregard anything I say about this matter?

Not disregard, but it would tell me that no matter what this staff/team did you would trash them.

Not true. I actually want the Colts to win the Super Bowl because I would like Manning to get another SB ring. I just merely think they handled the Jets game strangely and their explanations don't really match up to their actions.

Like I said, there is no 100% correct answer on this, but I will say with what happened to Welker yesterday I think Polian and Caldwell look a little smarter today than they did just a week ago.

I really hope the Ravens can knock off the Pats tomorrow - I do NOT want to have to see the Jets next week. I'd much rather the Colts get the Ravens next week and let the Jets-Chargers slug it out.
