The Official Indianapolis Colts Thread

Manning had a 101 passer rating this year. Luck had a 96. Besides manning having a better completion percentage 66 to lucks 61 the rest of the stats are very similar, that's with an old manning playing injured. Luck is good, but not #2 in the league good. At least not yet.

Fair enough, we just disagree here. I take the 25 year old who can make any throw and run if needed over the 39 year old injured guy. I think Peyton is the greatest ever, Luck cannot touch Peyton yet on carrier but as of right now I take Luck over Peyton. I can separate Peyton the legend, from Peyton today, he is not the same guy.

He's not the same guy, for sure. I'm just going off 2014 stats. Manning, Rodgers, Brady, Romo all had better passer ratings and td to interception ratios. I would definitely take Luck to build a team around, but he was not the #2 qb in the league this year. Will he end up being an all-time great, probably.

He said he can't take me serious anymore, so he should stop responding to my posts and perhaps leave the Colts thread.

Some have a hard time separating the legacy of guys in their late 30s to how they are playing right now. Anyone who watched that that Broncos/Colts game cannot tell me as of today Manning is better than Luck. If I had to start a team today and had to pick a QB my first pick would be Rodgers, second would be Luck.

I can separate their "legacy" from today. They are still better.

Again, Luck is a very good QB, just not the 2nd best in the league, and again YET.

Af of today, no, but give me a healthy Manning and he's still better.

If I had to select 1 QB to have over the next 10 seasons, Luck would easily be the pick. 5 season he'd be 2nd behind Rogers.

In his defense he doesn't have ty Hilton, Fleener, Dwayne Allen, Hakim Nicks, Reggie Wayne. He's rolling with some sub par wrs and tight ends. I'm not saying he's better than luck, but he's more than a game manager. I don't think he should get penalized for having a good run game.

Pretty much everyone you mentioned after Hilton sucks. And Hilton is like 5'9, not an ideal #1

If you're trying to talk up Hakeem Nicks and Coby Fleener as legitimate and/or reliable threats, you were adding nothing from the start.

Wasn't talking them up. Just stating that Lucks receiving core is better than Wilson. Would you not agree?

They're better, but they're not particularly good either. The original point was that Wilson benefits from a historically great defense and an elite run game, and if your response to that is, "Yeah, but Luck has slightly less terrible receivers," that doesn't really change much.

No, the original point was that Russell Wilson isn't a game manager. I still say he isn't. I was never trying to compare the two.

Russell Wilson has Doug Baldwin and Jevon Kearse as his top two wideouts. Those guys aren't even in the top fifty in the league. He has help but he's easily a top ten QB.

And Luck is a GREAT QB. Luck probably has the best first three seasons in QB history. Dude has almost no help on offense.

Luck has had a great 3 years, but "no help" is false, imo. Hilton is one of the elite burners in the league. No he won't get 100 catches ever, but he commands so much defensive attention. he makes everyone better.

Needed:
O line help-got Todd herremans
RB-got gore
WR- probably getting Andre Johnson
Pass rusher-got Trent cole
Run stopper- got Kendall Langford

Not a bad couple of days

Ok, I didn't know they were likely to let go of Nicks.

I thought the plan always was to replace Wayne with Moncrief.

Nicks was only on a one year deal, he did nothing to warrant another contract.

They think Carter which is Cris Carter's son can eventually be a #1 receiver but either way they need a veteran in with the group, Johnson would provide a huge short term need

Well Grigson and Irsay can't be accused of not putting pieces around Luck anymore, at least for the short term they have went all in on winning a super bowl
