The Official Indianapolis Colts Thread

He had a bad game, but he definitely isn't a game manager qb. He's IMO one of the best improvisers in the game. He keeps plays alive and makes plays.

I agree he had a bad game, it happens to everyone. He is great at what he is asked to do, he has the benefit of a monster run game and the best D in the league in years. I don't think its always a bad title to be called a game manager. He can make plays when he needs to but he is not really asked to win them games.

He's great at throwing on the run, but if you put him on a team with no running game and no elite defense (like Luck's team, no offense) he isn't carrying them this far.

I agree with this, Luck is better than Wilson, Wilson plays on a superior team. These Seahawk teams remind me of the Pats team early on in the Brady era

I like how you chime in late.

I've stated MULTIPLE times that Luck is a very good QB. I just don't think hes great, YET.

I just didn't see it, I would've happily chimed in earlier haha.

He's great. He's in his early 20s, has his team on his shoulders more than any other playoff QB, and keeps leading them to victory anyway. What more do you need to see? All the "yet" stuff should have been used the last two years.

Wanted the Colts to win but Irsay is such a spectacular douche, I kinda like that he got sent home this way. The 2004 choke job doesn't seem so bad now.

Luck is already pretty great, compared to the rest of the current QBs. He's not in that upper tier, but will be soon. He's by far the best QB talent in the league, and may be the best talent ever.

In his defense he doesn't have ty Hilton, Fleener, Dwayne Allen, Hakim Nicks, Reggie Wayne. He's rolling with some sub par wrs and tight ends. I'm not saying he's better than luck, but he's more than a game manager. I don't think he should get penalized for having a good run game.

It helps to have a run game and great D. Fleener and Allen are good nothing special, Nicks hasnt done anything really and Wayne is done. I agree as far as pass catchers Indys are better but they are nothing special outside of Hilton.

Who is top tier, as of right now. Not what they have done in the past but ranking their play as of 1/19/2015

My top tier this season is Rodgers, Brady, Manning*

2nd tier is Brees, Rivers, Luck, Flacco, Big Ben

*Manning was clearly out of the top tier the way he looked the last 6 weeks, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and chalk it up to injury. He's probably not returning to the top tier.

Wilson deserves to be in there somewhere. Brees was bad this year.

I think Rodgers is in a class by himself right now.
Then: Luck
Next: Brady, Brees, Flacco, Ben R, Rivers, Stafford, Ryan

Wilson does not belong with them. He can throw 4 INTs and still win an NFC championship game. That tells you what kind of team is carrying him. He's good and probably will belong in that tier at some point, but there is no way he belongs right now.

He throws for 300 yards 1 out of every 12 games. It's hard to put him in with guys that really shoulder the load.

So 3,500 yards passing and almost a 1,000 yards rushing with 28 tds. Keeps him out of the conversation. I'm confused as to what more he needed to do to be in it.

3500 yards is nothing today. Dude is 5-0 when he throws for less than 225 yards in the postseason. Put him on the Colts, and his stats will definitely go up, but I kinda doubt they would even make the playoffs.

It's not that he isn't good enough to shoulder the load, it's that he hasn't proven he can. He was horrific yesterday, and won. Tom Brady doesn't even have that kind of luck.

LOL about your Brady comment.

He doesn't have the passing stats as some, but if you average in his rushing (and that should matter) he averages 280 yards a game.

Here's a pretty cool link I found. You can compare players head to head.

What do the redskins have to do with you ranking Luck the #2 overall qb?

He said he can't take me serious anymore, so he should stop responding to my posts and perhaps leave the Colts thread.

Some have a hard time separating the legacy of guys in their late 30s to how they are playing right now. Anyone who watched that that Broncos/Colts game cannot tell me as of today Manning is better than Luck. If I had to start a team today and had to pick a QB my first pick would be Rodgers, second would be Luck.

Manning had a 101 passer rating this year. Luck had a 96. Besides manning having a better completion percentage 66 to lucks 61 the rest of the stats are very similar, that's with an old manning playing injured. Luck is good, but not #2 in the league good. At least not yet.
