The Official Indianapolis Colts Thread

The way Tamme played with Dallas out, taking a TE would be a dumb move.

If they go offense with first pick, it has to be a lineman.

At some point I think we need to start looking for another #1 receiver. If Julio Jones is available I say take him. We do need OL and a DT maybe even another safety at some point.

I would be severely disappointed with a WR in the 1st round unless they handle our much bigger needs in free agency which I doubt.

I think you can find quality lineman in later rounds, how many top flight receivers are there in the league who were later round picks? I think Polian usually goes best available, Jones serves two purposes can work into that #2 spot quickly because Garcon drops a ton of passes and he can return kicks. Wayne is getting older we need to start looking to have someone step in to replace him like we did with him and Harrison.

I'm not disagreeing with you. However, you can find top WRs in later rounds, as with most every other position.

Wes Welker- Undrafted
Miles Austin- Undrafted
Marques Colston- 7th round
Johnny Knox- 5th round
Cris Carter- 4th round
Brandon Marshall- 4th round
Austin Collie- 4th round
Brandon Lloyd- 4th round
Terrell Owens- 3rd round
Hines Ward- 3rd round
Mike Wallace- 3rd round

When I top receivers I mean Andre Johnson, Reggie Wayne, Randy Moss types. I would not consider many on your list top receivers. I see a hand full on your list there.

I don't see how anyone can watch this team and want a WR with the 22nd pick. This is a team that is trying to win now. Agree to disagree.

I am basing my opinion on not having Gonzalez back, he is always hurt and should be cut. Garcon drops as many as he catches and Wayne is getting old. Do you disagree with any of that? You can't expect many players regardless of position to come in a be effective as a rookie, it know it happens but not very often.

I'm basing my opinion on what will help this team in the next three seasons. DT, S, and OL will all be more helpful.

All of them are No. 1 or No. 2 WRs on their respective teams. Some of them are Hall of Famers, and some will be in the HOF. I think every organization would be happy with their production, even if they were a 1st round pick.

However, I understand your point because of guys out there like Andre Johnson, Reggie Wayne, Randy Moss, Calvin Johnson, and Larry Fitzgerald, who were all taken in the 1st round. My point is that you can find future superstars at WR in the later rounds of the draft. It's actually pretty common.

Agreed that these are areas of greater need than WR. However, I do think that the Colts need to look WR somewhere in the draft, especially with Collie's future in doubt.

I'd prefer they find a reliable guy like Collie late or with in free agency rather than go for a superstar this year. Wayne can still get it done.

Absolutely. They need to find a "system" player who can come in and possibly contribute immediately. In the meantime, I'll be praying that Austin Collie may still safely play football. Collie and Clark are key to the passing game. They free things up for Reggie, and vice versa.

Are there head coaches available in this draft? That is our number one need right now.

In all seriousness, we need linemen on both sides of the ball.
