The official E3 2017 Thread

Annnd Sony dropped the ball. Lackluster E3 for me.

Overall I thought the conference went about as I expected. Solid but unspectacular. I knew it was going to be a let down after the last 2 years because there's no way Sony was going to be able to keep out doing themselves year after year.

However after it's all said and done Sony still has the games which ultimately is all that matters. The lackluster conference does not change the fact that they still have the best line up of true exclusives, plus the best 3rd party partnerships. Plus people tend to forget that Sony basically has two E3's now, E3 and PSX. You have to know they're going to have new stuff for PSX.

This year we've already gotten NiOh, Nier Automata, Horizon Zero Dawn, MLB The Show 2017, Wipeout Omega Collection, Persona 5, and Gravity Rush 2. Plus we still have the following games remaining to come this year...

GT Sport
Uncharted Lost Legacy
Horizon DLC
Knack 2
Crash N Sane Trilogy
Ni No Kuni 2
Days Gone (December 29th)

Plus all the 3rd party partnerships with Call of Duty WWII, Destiny 2, Star Wars Battlefront 2, Far Cry 5, etc.

In 2018 we have the following to look forward to...

God of War
Shadow of the Colossus
Spider Man
Detroit Become Human

And 2019 and beyond we have...

The Last of Us 2
Death Stranding
Shenmue 3
Final Fantasy 7 Re Make

And Super Mario Odyssey might sell 10 million Switches by itself.

So far I have to say Nintendo is winning e3.

Pretty solid showing by Nintendo! Xenoblade Chronicles 2 looked good. Mario Odyssey looked incredible! Metroid Prime 4 confirmed! New Pokémon game confirmed! New Yoshi and Kirby games confirmed! Rocket League coming to Switch. Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle looks fun and unique. Pokken Tournament Deluxe coming. Playable Link along with the Master Sword confirmed for the Switch version of Skyrim. Really good stuff!

Favorite quote of E3 so far...

"As a PlayStation fan I have to thank Microsoft for showing more games that I will play on my PS4 than Sony did. " LMAO!

Ya know maybe it is a good thing Sony didn't have any "HOLY ****" reveals if FF 7 Remake and Shenmue 3 are that far away and they were shown during the 2015 showcase. Lol

That said, I think Spider Man actually looks great.

FF7 Remake is in development hell. Square took over development from the company they originally outsourced the game to because they weren't happy with it. So who knows if they completely scrapped it and are starting from the ground up or if they were able to salvage any assets from original development.

Shenmue 3 development apparently is going well and has actually grown into a much more ambitious game than originally planned. It's still being developed by a relatively small team so who knows when that'll be done.

Agreed on Spider Man. It along with Mario Odyssey and SW Battlefront 2 we're my favorite games at E3.

Any word on the Resident Evil 2 remake? Is it still happening?

Nothing from e3. The only new info about it that I've heard is that Alyson Court went on YouTube a few days ago to announce she is not reprising the role of Claire Redfield. Of course that's not a total shock because I didn't even realize she didn't do the voice work for Claire in RE Revelatons 2.

Yeah that's the only thing I've heard as well. I really expected to see something at E3. Hopefully there's news in the coming months.

I hope the RE2 remake focuses more on atmosphere than action. The game doesn't lend itself to the over-the-shoulder 3rd-person view, as there just aren't that many enemies in the entire game.

They either need to go fixed camera angles (unlikely) or 1st person and give it the RE7 treatment with fewer enemy encounters but more tension.

1st person would also make it easy to port to VR, and that alone would be a huge selling point for the headsets.

Still plenty of events where it can be shown. We have Gamescom, Tokyo Game Show, Paris Games Week, and Sony's own PSX before the end of the year.

I don't want first person at all. I would much rather have it done like the Resident Evil remake

Even though it's different development teams, I think the delay in the RE7 final DLCs pushed back anymore info about RE2. The DLC was finished by a seperate development team but Capcom didn't like it so they decided to redo it.

My guess is they know once they let RE2 gameplay and screenshots out, that will be the focus and they don't want it to affect RE7.
