The official E3 2016 thread

With MS unveiling Scorpio a year and a half before it launches, what they're basically doing is admitting defeat. Without actually coming out and saying it, they're acknowledging they have lost this generation and essentially they're attempting to "re set the chess board" early so as to appear to be the aggressor next time around. I like the specs but in the end, it's the games that matter.

Microsoft has good games.

Didn't say they don't. However I would like to see them diversify their in-house gaming portfolio more. The Xbox brand is basically built on 3 pillars, Forza, Halo, and Gears. For example, last holiday their 3 big titles were Halo 5, Gears Collection, and Forza 6. This holiday their 3 big titles are Halo Wars 2, Gears 4, and Forza Horizon 3.

So with the announcement of RE7 and a release date that's only about 7 months away, I'm wondering if they will have any update on the RE2 remake.

Considering with RE7 this is the first official announcement of the game and they already have a demo and a release date, I would think they'd have at least some info on RE2 Remake to release. It's been almost a year since they confirmed they were working on it.

Now that I've had time to process the RE7 news, I'm a bit torn. While I'll definitely take what we're getting over the crap that is RE6, it does seem like they copied the PT/Outlast formula. But I get they needed to change things up so I'm not really upset. I'm also going to assume that since they named it Resident Evil 7 that it's not a complete reboot.

I'm going to download the demo today.

I feel exactly how you do. It's scary. Really is. But it doesn't feel like RE. But hey. They're trying something new. RE6 was pretty freaking bad. So I'm going to stay positive about it. As much as i want cheesey lines and Jill Leon and Clair to go back to walking through tight corridors with fixed camera angles, its just not a modern way for a game to be made sadly. A triple A one anyways. Saying that, RE 2 remake better feel like a more modern RE 2 and better not go for this type of horror RE 7 has.

RE 2 remake was announced way before RR 7 but from what I have heard is RE 7 has been worked on for longer. RE 2 remake will probably be late 2017 or early 2018 of I had to predict.

I'm wondering if they are waiting to see how RE7 does. We're getting RE2 Remake either way, but I wonder if RE7 bombs then they'll really hype RE2 Remake and then make some public pledge that they'll once again "return to the roots of RE".

If RE7 is well received, they'll still hype RE2 Remake but it will be more nostalgic based rather than them trying to save their behinds.

Probably a good assumption. However o just read that the demo is actually not part of the main game. And you play as a different lead in the main game. So who knows what the main game will look like.

Yeah I noticed the demo has a subtitle, so I'm thinking the demo is actually more like Dead Rising 2: Case Zero, where it was actually a short prequel to the main game.

I played the Resident Evil 7 demo last night and I really liked it. I like the direction they're taking with it. This franchise needed a huge enema and man did it get one!

So I'm getting The Last Guardian, that's a given, because I loved Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. And I also know it's almost a given the game will end sadly.

Ico was bad enough on the sadness meter but SOTC was such a gut punch.
