The Official Denver Broncos Thread

man skip bayless is such a stubborn arsehole he's still trying to argue the colts should of paid the 60 million to keep peyton?

I wonder what Fox's relationship with Manning was like? In other words, maybe this move was made to make it more likely Peyton is back next year.

Guess it is just as likely that this is a sign the Broncos are ready to make a wholesale restart.

Interesting stuff.

Manning is under contract for next season. I wouldn't be surprised either way if he returns or not.

Gary Kubiak is a great fit. He just needs to admit he put his foot in his mouth, and take the job.

I'd like to see Manning give it another year with Kubiak coaching the team. He's one year removed from one of the greatest seasons ever. Maybe it was just an injury. And a lot on the offensive line. Get in a RT to shift the right side back in. Find a DC that is aggressive. Von Miller should never be a spy. Screw coverage, he needs to be attacking on all passing downs.

I have it going something like this

"We lost because we didn't execute the game plan". JF

"No we lost because you don't know what your doing". PM

I actually think Fox and Manning got along. My guess, not well enough that Manning would threaten retirement over a change.

Elway is cold-blooded. There was an SI article (Link) about it this week. I think Elway gauged Manning's feelings (i.e. would he leave if Fox left), and then pulled the trigger. Maybe I'm off on this, but I think Elway wants Kubiak. And I think he can sell Manning on Kubiak.

I've read where Manning may consider retirement rather than learn a new system under a new head coach.

To be blunt, if Manning stays, he isn't going to be running a "new" system. He's going to be Peyton Manning and the coach will adjust accordingly.

I think Denver's D was grossly over-rated all season. Haven't been impressed with Del Rio.

I don't know. If Manning is interested in coaching some day, why wouldn't he want to learn all about Kubiak's zone blocking scheme from the man himself?

I'd say it depends on the coach.

Oakland was looking hard at Del Rio iirc, so they may fix that for you.

Peyton Manning lost the 13th postseason game of his career, the most in NFL history, and is now 2-5 in his past seven playoff games.

Only Brady has played in more playoff games with 27. Manning is tied with Force for 24 (but appeared in 3 Super Bowls to Faves 2).

Oddly Manning has a slightly better post season QB rating than Brady (as of last week). Coaching has A LOT to do with post season wins. Manning has never had the superior coach in that debt. Dungee was his best and even he was not a good post season coach.

What do ya know? Oakland hires another Denver DC.

And this will go about as well as the Allen hire. The Raider way. If you don't fail spectacularly enough the first time try, try again. Spagnola could've been a DC good hire if he hadn't returned to Jersey.

I know rating isn't a perfect stat, but Manning has had 12 playoff games with a rating over 88 and he lost 6 of them of them. For reference, Brady has had 13 and lost 3 of them.

Also, Brady has won 5 out of 8 games when his rating is below 75.

Manning has won 2 out of 7.
