This deal is said to have no bearing on the Broncos pursuit of 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
Report: Broncos trade for QB Mark Sanchez
Sounds to me like Sanchez is being brought in as a backup.
Report: Broncos trade for QB Mark Sanchez

In Sanchez's first season he was a good QB. I don't know if the playbook got too complicated or what, but he definitely has the talent to be a starting QB again with the right system.
I think a lot of these guys have success in their first 1-2 seasons and then defenses figure them out and they are dead in the water. Kaep, Sanchez, RG3, etc. Not sure how valid the theory is, but it explains how they can look so good and then so terrible.
I think that happens sometimes, but Sanchez isn't a running QB and is more of a typical pro-style guy. I watched him live a few times against the Titans and he just seemed really confused, like he wasn't on the same page with the WR's and not because of the defense. I really think in his situation it was mental overload. I think the same thing could be said for Kurt Warner and it took him a while to quit overthinking things and get back to his normal self.
The Broncos have reached out to free agent Ryan Fitzpatrick's representatives, sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, though Denver currently is unwilling to pay the salary that the quarterback is seeking.
The preliminary talks come as the Broncos search for their next starting quarterback following Brock Osweiler's decision to sign with the Houston Texans and the retirement of Peyton Manning.
The Broncos and Fitzpatrick could revisit those talks down the line, but for now, Denver will monitor Fitzpatrick's situation while continuing its attempt to bring in another quarterback to compete with Mark Sanchez, sources said.
The Broncos traded for Sanchez on Friday, sending a conditional draft pick to the Philadelphia Eagles. Broncos executive vice president of football operations/general manager John Elway called that the "first step in our process" in a tweet.
Trevor Siemian is the other quarterback currently on the Broncos' roster.
Fitzpatrick threw for 3,905 yards with 31 touchdowns and 15 interceptions in 2015, his first season with the New York Jets. The Jets have been in a stalemate with Fitzpatrick and are nowhere close to an agreement, sources told Schefter.
The Jets met with Robert Griffin III over the weekend as the team considers other quarterback options, sources told Scheffer.
Is Kaep better than Sanchez? I think he has higher upside, but I'm worried he is not capable of reaching his potential and he will probably be fairly pricey.
