The Official Denver Broncos Thread

The Broncos have been better than the Patriots this year. But because offense sells, nobody is giving them that credit. Their defense is off the charts. They just held Rodgers to 77 yards passing. That's the most impressive feat of the season, for any team. The Patriots have played a bunch of crap, and when they have faced a decent team, they've given up points. Their defense is average, their offense is great. The Broncos offense is average, their defense is great. And they've done it against better competition.

The Joe Thomas rumors are interesting. He has a super team friendly contract. But it's still a big contract, and one you'd have to keep on the books if you give a 1st round for. And a late 1st round pick is still valuable. I'd probably do it, if only because you are a contender for only so long in this league. And I really don't see giving up a late first as completely surrendering your future. This team still has a bunch of young talent.

As far as I know deadlines are for real in the NFL, it's why they lost Dumervil. And the deal didn't make it. The price might have been too high regardless (a 1st and 2nd).

Patriots don't stand a chance if the pass rush shows up that day.

Yeah right. Brady is much better than Rodgers. And Bellicheck owns the Broncos. Until the clock reaches zero and proves me wrong, the Pats will beat the Broncos.

I hope Denver stomps a mud hole in the Pats, but I highly doubt it.

If Manning can just manage 17-24 points this defense will carry him to the Super Bowl.

He needs to cut out the pixc-sixes though.

And the run game needs to continue to get better...but also against someone that's a bit higher than 25th in the league in rushing allowed per game

That may be asking a lot late in the season though. Manning was never known for great performances once the weather gets colder and worse in December/January at any point in his career, and he's really fallen off badly the past couple years in Denver.

The weather doesn't affect a great defense. This defense is the best defense Manning has had (although his Superbowl win defense was underrated). Wade Phillips was the missing factor.

None of the other arguments matter. Manning right now is better than Brad Johnson, Trent Dilfer, and, hell, probably Russell Wilson or Joe Flacco. He has what looks like an all-time great defense behind him. If he gets a running game, it will be enough.

Manning has had problems in the cold, but usually it's because he's been called upon to put up a high score against a better defense. Hopefully he doesn't have to do that this year.
