Experience can obviously be overrated. I mean take this post of yours for example and you have over 40k posts. I will go with coach.

What do you mean go with coach? I’m predicting that Edwards will get a bump in minutes. He was a 4-star and the door opened up for him several weeks ago. I’m not saying what Coach Barnes should or shouldn’t do (there’s no shortage of those posters, but I’m not one of them). I also inferred that Key might pull a choke job having zero NCAAT experience and that possibility worries me.

If you see BJ on the floor, it won’t be for very long at all. You might be able to get by with it in the first round, but after that, other teams will smell blood in the water when he has the ball. There ain’t no way I’d trust him to handle the ball if we face Duke with Roach guarding him. I think he’ll eventually contribute for us down the road, but now just ain’t the time.

Well, this is the Louisiana game thread. Not the Duke game thread.

In my earlier post I suggested BJE (a 4-star recruit BTW) might get 2 or 3 minutes more than once. He’s gotten in in a couple of recent games a minute before a scheduled TV time out in order to extend the break for Vescovi and, IIRC, JJJ.

BJE has had about three weeks now to work some with the regulars. His role changed when ZZ got hurt. Also, Louisiana is a step back in talent relative to the SEC competition. He probably out talents LA’s backup guards.

Well apologies for responding with something you didn’t like. I’m just saying I doubt you’ll see him but if you do, it’ll only be this game and for a very very limited time.

I’d call one or two times off of the bench once or twice a limited time. Maybe not the double “very” limited amount though.

The reason why I think me might see more of BJE is because he was getting zero minutes in almost every game. Since BJE was injured he has entered a couple of times early when they weren’t mop up minutes. He was probably the scout team PG until his role changed with ZZ out.

Again, it’s just a prediction. I’m not suggesting whether or not it’s the correct strategy. I don’t for a second think that I know better than CRB how to run the rotation. A lot of posters think they do know though.

Don’t start 9 hours before tipoff please.

It probably is the most important variable though. Some refs have a history of having bias against TN (hopefully Barnes is able to veto those officials).

How they interpret fouls and how inconsistent they are will have a huge impact. Maybe since TN has had a lot of experience this year dealing with tgat unknown it won’t become a huge factor. I’m not holding my breath. TV likes close games for better ratings.

I would have thought Barnes would've increased his role a bit in the SEC Tourney to get him a little more experience going into the Dance.

Shows you how much I know.

Most teams aren’t going to play more than 7 or 8 guys tops this time of year

Well hindsight is always 20/20 but I do believe he should’ve got some more playing time early in the season vs the teams we were blowing out. However, I think we were still trying get rotational guys some more time to gel. Obviously some never have really “gelled” but with Ziegler out now, we’re kinda behind the 8-ball.

Me too. But then again maybe CRB was looking ahead to the NCAAT and didn’t want to risk damaging BJE’s confidence. He got burned badly on defense a few times after he was added to the (limited) rotation.

Surprised to see the ESPN BPI has TN at 95% chance of winning this game. I assumed it would be more in the 65%-75% range all things considere.

We get Kevin Harlan as the broadcaster so that’s a bonus win or lose.

And Lauren Shehadi as the reporter for this game is an extra bonus.

Thank you for explaining this. I didn’t have time to go into detail when I posted and somebody obviously chose the pompous route instead of considering the validity of the question.

Happy Game Day gents. Cajun fan here! I’ve been reading your board the last couple of days and most of your analysis is pretty accurate of our team. I’ll say one thing though, I noticed some posters wondering why Jordan Brown transferred to Louisiana and the answer isn’t necessarily what you’d expect.

Yes he left when the coach who recruited him got canned, but it goes deeper than that. Jordan’s dad by the name of Dion Brown was a Cajun great back in the early 80s. He still holds some all-time records for Louisiana. He was drafted to the NBA, but only played a few years. So when Jordan had the decision to transfer, he decided to honor his dad and come play for the Cajuns. It’s been a match made in heaven obviously. I’m just hoping we can give y’all a fight tonight. Y’all’s defense worries me.

Enjoy the game fellas!
