Co-worker May be pulling my leg, but says he has a scope that will adjust for the yardage all on its on.

No real budget. I'd like to spend a little as possible but for a good quality, reliable gun that holds it's value well. Typically something "mid-range" I'd guess. Particularly the one for 3-gun use, as that would get far more use. The hog gun would get added to a wish list. I've got a Marlin 308 that I would typically use.
I gotta say, I'm digging that Springfield Armory Saint Edge Yankee was showing off the other day. Looks almost ideal for a beginner 3-gun setup. Toss a mini red dot on top and you're off to the races.
For a hog gun, I'd honestly suggest using a spare upper in 6.8 SPC or 6.5 Grendel and changing it out on your lower. Perfectly fine for hogs and you essentially get two weapons. Different mags, obviously, but same lower receiver.
If you want specifics, let me know.
There are things like this out there.

The first thing to ask in any optics discussion is...what's your budget?

SWFA is stupid good for the money. Their fixed power scopes have good glass, they're sturdy, side parallax, 100 MOA of adjustment, great turrets and they track as well as many $2000 scopes.
The 10x42 is a great value at $399.
Their scopes tend to be a bit on the heavy side but for the money are mechanically solid with decent glass. (the HD's have even better glass but do cost more)
They really only feel heavy when comparing them to cheap glass or 1' inch tubes. Quality components weigh more.
It's a good size and weight for a .308 tactical rifle.
Judging by the several gun pages I follow on Instagram has appendix carry and flashlights on your EDC gun became the normal?? Never seen so many people carrying appendix until here lately.

Try drawing your pistol from a sitting position without the muzzle covering part of your body.
Just because something is popular doesn't make it smart.
