The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

I need recommendations for optics. Something that will allow me to reach 3-400 yards.

308 Remington.

Co-worker May be pulling my leg, but says he has a scope that will adjust for the yardage all on its on.

What will you be using it for and what is your budget?

What type rifle?

MOA or MIL?

No real budget. I'd like to spend a little as possible but for a good quality, reliable gun that holds it's value well. Typically something "mid-range" I'd guess. Particularly the one for 3-gun use, as that would get far more use. The hog gun would get added to a wish list. I've got a Marlin 308 that I would typically use.

I gotta say, I'm digging that Springfield Armory Saint Edge Yankee was showing off the other day. Looks almost ideal for a beginner 3-gun setup. Toss a mini red dot on top and you're off to the races.

For a hog gun, I'd honestly suggest using a spare upper in 6.8 SPC or 6.5 Grendel and changing it out on your lower. Perfectly fine for hogs and you essentially get two weapons. Different mags, obviously, but same lower receiver.

If you want specifics, let me know.

Thanks I'll dig into this a bit and let you know. Thanks

Riflescopes - Shop For Top Quality Riflescopes at SWFA.com

SWFA is stupid good for the money. Their fixed power scopes have good glass, they're sturdy, side parallax, 100 MOA of adjustment, great turrets and they track as well as many $2000 scopes.

The 10x42 is a great value at $399.

Their scopes tend to be a bit on the heavy side but for the money are mechanically solid with decent glass. (the HD's have even better glass but do cost more)

They really only feel heavy when comparing them to cheap glass or 1' inch tubes. Quality components weigh more.

It's a good size and weight for a .308 tactical rifle.

Judging by the several gun pages I follow on Instagram has appendix carry and flashlights on your EDC gun became the normal?? Never seen so many people carrying appendix until here lately.

You don't have to sell me...I own some.

If a person can wait they usually have sales around major holidays. All my SWFA's were purchased on holiday sales.

I keep trying to get used to it. I feel like its more concealed but less comfortable when I carry appendix but I'm not sure if its a new trend.

I've got one on a .22 trainer. I can't help but just laugh at how little I paid for it and the quality I get.

Try drawing your pistol from a sitting position without the muzzle covering part of your body.

Just because something is popular doesn't make it smart.

To each his/her own. I carry IWB at my 1 o'clock (I guess that's what they call "Appendix carry"). Easier to conceal; less chance of a "print", and can be drawn from any position: standing, sitting, driving, etc.

I refuse to carry behind my 3 o'clock or 9 o'clock positions, as doing so offers the opportunity for someone behind me to notice my gun, and take it, or at least compete with me to see who gets it first. I made that observation when I was behind a guy in line at a store, and noticed that he was "Carrying Cool", with some type of auto in a small-of-the-back holster. That changed my thinking on where I carry concealed.

So for me it meant going with an empty pipe, and building the draw & rack motor skills; or trust the Glock safe-action trigger; or go loaded & half-cock on the Rock. Usually it's draw & rack. For me, that's a better option than getting shot with my own gun.

But like I said, to each their own.

....

It can't be drawn from the sitting position without covering your junk.

Quick question: If storing ammo in a climate controlled environment is there any real expiration date?
