The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

Need some help from the Peanut Gallery here. I'm looking for a leather (preferably) thumb-break OWB holster for the Springfield Range Officer. No, I don't have one. For the most part, that gun has been in the case since the day I got it, other than to shoot occasionally, clean, and it's my "bear gun" when we go to the mountains. For that, I just tuck & go while I'm walking Casey. I have bear spray; the .45 is last resort.

I have a nice Bianchi for the RIA compact .45, but I cannot find anything similar on Ye Olde Internet. I am tired of looking. Sucks being a dinosaur sometimes, when all you can find is high-speed polymer skeleton holsters that look like a prop from Starship Troopers. So I am pissed off now, Jobu...

If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd be forever grateful.

If you haven't ordered take a look at Tribute - Leather Concealment Holster

I bought a Bianchi Pirhana Model 77 today. Fits 1911 Government size fine. Might have to let it stretch if you have wide thumb safety and slide release controls. It does have a snap, which I am okay with. It was a little under $75 with tax at lgs.

'preciate it. Love Bianchi, and I may get that one just to try it, but DTH sold me on the El Paso holster.

I don't post pics anymore, and I try to brag less about guns, ammo, and marksmanship here. Never know when that might come back to haunt you in an OIS, or having to defend yourself.

So, thanks.

Those are nice looking. The basketweave model in particular.

There's an old saying.....probably fits your line of work as well as mine.

I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

Not to mention letting the "fear" of something control what you say or don't say*. There isn't a damn thing wrong with pride, PERIOD. I'm ok with being "bad company."

*That's the real issue (and a big topic for another thread lol).

Anyone else getting a PSA Dagger when released?

It’s a nice looking gun but I already have a compact (Beretta APX carry). I went looking for ammo today and fought my inner self for about half an hour to not buy a CZ shadow 2 orange. I could get an AR, sig p320, and the dagger for the price of the CZ. I may fight that inner battle soon as well.

But it looks soooooooo good in orange.

They have one at the LGS here and every single time I walk in I sooooooo want to buy it.

Guys, what kind of accuracy can you expect from fmj, 556 ammo, lake city. I have a AR that I built foff long range accuracy and I was trying to find tune today. I was disappointed. My groups are 3-4" at 100 yards using that ammo. I've been taking ground hogs at 120-130 yards having misses only 1-2 times but I was using federal fusion or Winchester varmiter X.

I have the gun topped with a $1200 vortex viper 6-16 power. 18" SS spiral fluted barrel.
Side note: I think the gun is under gassing a bit as the spent cases are exiting at about a 45 degree angle forward. Never a jam though.

You didn’t mention what projectile the Lake City has but I’ve never had any Lake city ammo that shoots better that 2 MOA. Pick up something with the Sierra 69 or 75 grain HTBP. Federal Gold Medal Match is the reference standard. IMI also has a quality offering.

If that doesn’t get you close to MOA or better, you need a better barrel. You didn’t mention who made the barrel but if you want long range accuracy, it matters. Look at a White Oak Armament 18” SPR barrel. With that and decent ammo, If you can’t shoot MOA, you just need to work on fundamentals.

Looking for some advice. I’m in the market for an AR. I grew up hunting so these weren’t really in my wheel house. Budget is $800-900 for the gun, and I’m comfortable with building one. Let me hear mfg’s, ammo, etc you like.

That’s a tough question right now. Hard to find parts or guns. Also let us know how you plan to use it.

Primary Arms or Palmeto State Armory are your best bet for guns, parts or kits.

Thanks. I had good pulls on all but a couple of rounds. Got the geisslle (sp?) S.A. two stage trigger. The barrel is from ground zero precision. I think it's the ammo. I'll try and acquire some better stuff and try again.
