The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

Thanks for posting....I read where they could start at $1000....I'd like one, but that seems steep

Where else are you getting milsurp 1911’s for less? Every blue moon one appears at a show around here for no less than 1500. Decent shooters on GB go for 1500 and up.

The amount of dumb in the 1911 threads indicates 85% of the people will f up the ordering process. The whining will be epic.

I expected the price to drop, considering they are going to sell 100,000 of them

We will see about pricing once they get a good quantity graded. I do wonder about the grading criteria they will use. I’ve walked out of the Anniston store before with a rifle graded as “field grade” that was nearly a service grade. I guess we will see.

Picked up a nearly 40 year old Ruger Mark I (A100 frame) at SIA on Black Friday. She was a dirty girl, but cleaned up nicely. Has the original Ruger grips with the silver logo with “SR” for “Sturm Ruger”. Later logos are red with just the “R”.

Great plinker. Built to last. Nice get.

I would not count on that at all. The Army is basically being forced to do this by Congress. And Congress is doing it because the republicans can shove it through. A change politically in the next ten years could see this arrangement halted. CMP has to provide statistics to congress regarding use of these pistols in crimes. You can bet if that occurs they will demand the remaining guns be scrapped.

Printing. Why do people seem to put so much into it's prevention? A recent policy change in my workplace compelled me to go to pocket carry. People who know what to look for and who are looking can tell, although that does not put me sideways with the policy (basically, they don't want it to look like a precinct station in our office). My primary concern is street crime between my office building and the separated parking garage. A distant secondary concern would be laying down a bit of covering fire to get to an exit in the event of an active shooter in the building although I can keep something more suitable for a firefight in my office for this purpose if I so choose. I'm not really concerned with printing but it seems to be an obsession on a lot of gun forums I've looked at. I can see why a secret agent or maybe someone who has a propensity for being in a hostage situation like a bank or pharmacy employee would be concerned with printing but it just seems like there is a lot of unnecessary obsession with it. What am I missing?

In places where open carry is illegal printing is basically a failure to properly conceal. Without aggravating circumstances you aren't likely looking at serious problems but it's best to not have any issues at all, right?

In other places most people would just prefer to keep carrying on the DL. There's some timid and jumpy critters out there and keeping them in the dark is generally considered good policy by most.

I guess that makes sense. TN is just carry, open or concealed, and it seems like more and more people are going open, which is probably why my workplace decided to have a concealed policy.

You're right. Many people get way to wound up over printing. Most of society walks around completely unaware of their surroundings.

If you want an alternative to pocket carry, you might consider a tuckable inside the waistband or a nice ankle holster.

IWB is the way to go IMO. Even when knowing what to look for, with the right firearm its nearly impossible to tell.

Picked up a new Walther CCP for just $250 today at Rural King....Not a big fan of the 9 rd capacity but it'll make another good reasonable CCW gun.

anyone with experience with the Holosun red dots - like the 403c or 503c?
Nice decently priced optic. They manufactured red dots for Primary Arms before getting into the retail business (They may still, not sure). I did a ton of research before buying mine and found it to be a great value/quality option. Unfortunately I did not realize my astigmatism would be a problem with red dots in general....sitting in the box now.

There are some mods you can get that don't require a complete quad rail. My suggestion? I'd buy the Magpul MOE hand guards and attach a rail on the bottom, foregrip of choice, done.

Hand Guards

M-LOK(R) Polymer Rail, 7 Slots

MOE hand guards go for about $30 or so on most sites and the rail is like another $15 or so. Not sure if you have a carbine length or mid length gas system, so that could change the price slightly.
This. Magpul furniture is the way to go on a budget AR. So much better than stock, and you could probably upgrade all of it for the cost of a halfway decent quad rail

I have something similar, but it's three rails. Two right besides the FSB and the other along the barrel like the one you have the link too.

Command Arms Accessories if memory serves.

It’s pretty cool. It locks up real tight on the fsp. Gonna slap a surefire x300 ultra on it and take it to the range this weekend. There are concerns with heat, but it’s not designed to be used for prolonged strings of fire. We will see, it’s a nice alternative for me.
