Stay safe Ethan!

Purdue, LSU, Tennessee, Houston, and UConn need to have well trained, competent security. Danny was just bragging about raising $170 million for the Tennessee Fund last year. He better be on the phone with the Brooklyn Nets and Portland Trailblazers leadership for advice.

Let’s be careful out there! 53 years after Munich there are even more radical extremists now that embrace violence.

Men's basketball:

Omer Mayer (Purdue Boilermakers): Mayer, a highly skilled 18-year-old guard and top international prospect, committed to Purdue for the 2025–26 season. He is a proven scorer and playmaker with experience in Israel's top league and international FIBA competition, where he excelled at the U18 European Championship.

Ron Zipper (LSU Tigers): Zipper, a 6-foot-5 guard, will join the LSU men's basketball team for the 2025–26 season. He has played professionally in Israel and stood out in FIBA U18 and U20 competitions, winning a silver medal. Known for his three-point shooting, he will bring international experience to the Tigers.

Ethan Burg (Tennessee Volunteers): Burg, a combo guard, will play for the Volunteers for the 2025–26 season. He has professional experience in Israel's top league and averaged 11.0 points and 2.9 assists per game over his past two seasons there.

Emanuel Sharp (Houston Cougars): Originally from Israel, Sharp is a standout guard for the Cougars. As of August 2025, he is projected to be part of the starting lineup for the preseason-ranked team. He is considered a rising sharpshooter and has contributed to Houston's success.

Yarin Hasson (UConn Huskies): Hasson, a 6-foot-9 forward, will be a freshman for the UConn Huskies during the 2025–26 season. A native of Gan Yavne, Israel, he joins one of the most dominant programs in college basketball.

Yoav Berman (Queens University): Berman, the 6-foot-6 guard/forward from Tel Aviv, is a promising young talent. He has competed for the Israeli national team at multiple youth levels and earned a significant role at Queens as a freshman in 2024–25.

Didn’t know that about Sharp. He is a darn good player. Imagine if that’s what Burg can be for us.

Wouldn’t figure there’d be much to worry about in Poland. The World Cup in a couple of years in Qatar, i could see. But what do I know
I suspect that it’s less that Poland is particularly inhospitable and more that the global environment has gotten riskier so any high-profile event needs precautions.

But maybe also poland is rough? That part of the world doesn’t exactly have a sterling history…

As far as I know, Poland is a very benign country in terms of world violence/drama, and they are allies with Israel. However, the reason for the concern is due to a Polish aid worker being killed in Gaza via an Israeli airstike last year and the ensuing dialogue between both countries' leadership.

I actually went to Poland for the first time last year for a week, one of my best friends married a Polish girl. Was really nice. Did not see Warsaw, was in mostly rural areas

Ok, that makes sense

My comment about that region’s history was more about their shared border with Germany. I wasn’t aware of the incident with the aid worker.

Yeah, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to undervalue us right now, because it’s a lot of new faces. But I just think if we stay healthy our front court is going to be one of the top 2-3 in the nation. Add a dynamic duo like JG/Ament, just a lot of weapons to deal with. I’m really excited to finally get to watch Estrella play for the first time as a major contributor.

To me, aside from health and getting solid play from the 2, how special this season could be comes down to what we can get from the bigs. If JP is really healthy, Carey and Cade take the next step, and Felix can contribute a little offensively and continue to be a monster rim protector, the sky is the limit for this group. I'm just assuming they will be fierce defensively by springtime.
