Since UAB cannot afford cheerleaders, they decided to train bench-warmers to cheer their team to victory. However, when it was realized that the bench-warmers were the only players available, they nixed the whole thing and bought a cardboard cutout of a cheerleader.

It took UAB a whole 3 years and many cookie selling campaigns to erect this 4 ft tall statue. The only downside is that it is covered in sponsorship stickers on the backside.
