The Offensive Line is Atrocious Thread (merged)

Who knew it was possible for an O-line this bad to get worse every week? It would take Harry Potter's wand to make these guys SEC-caliber.

Wow. Just wow.

By all means, I am no expert. Mental aspect is the key on everything in everyday life and football is no different. I am seriously concerned about our o-line after today performance. Already shell shocked o-line, gave up 5.5 sacks against a FCS team and these guys are going to face arguably the best d-line rotations in the SEC next week. It may get real ugly next week, I am not talking about scoreboard, but player safety concern in our QB position.

How so? Although i was being sarcastic, about Mahoney actually telling OL that, it's beyond me why its not coached into these kids to finish blocks or at least try to. Game after game this is clear. It's on CBJ. It really is on Mahoney.
But, whatever...ignore(most may). I don't post for likes or agreement, just conversation.
So why do you think that, game after game, the OL thinks "yeah you are getting by me,SACK.. I'm going to help Worley get up"? Is it just youth and inexperience?

Well start with a thin OL to begin with add an injury to that. Then lets start shuffling line men around. Let's not forget the freshmen are underdeveloped physically and are still seeing certain schemes for the first time.

Then add in that this still the first year for this O-Line.

Add it all together and I'm seeing about what I expect. Is it sad yes, but it is what it is. I hope CBJ and Mahoney get it worked out sooner than later.

On a side note no way I believe for a moment that our coaching staff is not doing everything in their power to fix it. It may be next year before they get it fixed, but I will support them through these growing pains. :good!:

This offensive line has got worse...........and I don't understand for the life of me on why Wiseman and Blair are not playing...........but CBJ's problem is he is trying to coach/play for the future (next year) but he should be playing them now..........These guys that are playing have not and will not develop anymore.........

Exactly! Nothing is worth anyone getting paralyzed, It's getting serious. Defenseless QB getting hit hard countless times?? At some point, it's not about W/L.
We are 1/2 way thru the season with SECw teams up next. It's bad. It's on coaching.

Agreed...totally. What does it say about the staff's ability to evaluate recruits and develop them, when you have two 4* OL signees (Blair and Austin Sanders) sitting on the bench, in favor of two true freshmen who are getting beat with great regularity?

Every single sack or QB pressure is more condemnation of Mahoney's job as an OL coach. If this trend continues, I just don't see how you risk bringing him back for another year.

Cause it put's his abilities into question, and if it's a question mark now, CBJ has his whole staff and team behind the 8-ball next season....when he finds out that the answer is...Mahoney really does suck.

Seemed like a few times Worley got up after getting clobbered/blindisided after one of the OL got flat-out manhandled...and wanted to lay into his OL. But, he bit his tongue.

I bet he is screaming "WTF?!!!!" in his mind, each time that occurs. I hope at the very least, CBJ tears Mahoney a new one, in the next coaches meeting. This garbage cannot continue.

There is more talent on this roster than that mess.

Not only that...regardless of his accuracy/decisions last year, Dobbs is being redshirted???? He is the only hope with this OL that gets worse and worse. But nope, CBJ wants to red shirt him. This is stupid. Side note, Dobbs will graduate next year and be off to another school for graduate studies geared more towards major.

I actually played college football miss I don't know **** about the game.

Oooh. Look fellas! We've got an expert in our presence. Or is it presents, more aptly, pocket presents, in the case of this board and expert poster?

I would wager that somebody on this board could get by Thomas or Kerbyson with a simple spin move and sack Worley...(probably would cause a fumble)

I've been defending the coaches, but starting to wonder about Mahoney and Bajakian myself. Do these guys even know how to evaluate/ develop or even coach lineman? Or are these guys all we have to work with? Could the back ups be that bad or even worse? This is not even a Division 1 line, the way they are playing. Pathetic! I'd be pissed if I was Worley!

They are the least athletic line I've ever seen. They look really slow and uncoordinated. I truly worry about Worley's health. Ole Miss will seriously hurt him if they don't play better. For that matter, can't they teach them to hold instead of giving guys a straight shot at Worley?

By game six we should be seeing progress on the oline regardless of how inexperienced they are. After watching today and last week there is no doubt in my mind that they are regressing.

What drives me crazy is reading post after post from members that seem to keep excepting the excuse of youth. The first game sure, but after game six we should not be making an fcs defense look like an SEC D. Not sure how anyone could watch the performance from today and last week and not question our oline coaches ability.

I'm not sure if this line even knows what holding is.

I played SS in high school and wrestled..moved to LA and train BJJ and been fortunate to have the opportunity to roll with some really high level guys. In the fight sport it is one on one....just like Butch says...gotta win the one on one match ups...and if that guy across from you starts getting the best of you and you can't overcome it...it gets in your head...you lose.

Surely a self appointed bad @$$ like you know that from your Pop Warner days.

Ladies an Gents. We have a fighter..I think... Unfortunately we dont win one on ones or anything else.

Worley will get beaten up so badly that the offensive line and coaching staff will all be arrested after the game and charged with being accomplices to an attempted murder.

Just curious

Does anyone think or has anyone talked about CBJ might simply be trying to survive this season while taking any positive lessons he can get and teaching the kids with those?

Lessons such as perseverance and giving 100% for 4qtrs??

Maybe bring in an extra tackle to help block like they did with with #78 (graduated last yr) couple yrs ago. Hate to see the current guys get whipped every wkend and gettin our qb crushed
