The Offensive Line is Atrocious Thread (merged)

When we played like crap, my high school baseball coach used to say the way you guys played today makes me want to go home and kick my dog and beat my wife. I thought he was crazy, but watching this o-line play makes me reconsider.

It's as if they are coached not to touch the DL. Never seen worse technique, footwork and hands. And for ****'s sake, get a holding penalty or something besides letting guys just slap you and run by. I hardly recall and holding penalties, yet we give up 7-8 sacks per game.

Wow. Flag football the best you ever played?

I played SS in high school and wrestled..moved to LA and train BJJ and been fortunate to have the opportunity to roll with some really high level guys. In the fight sport it is one on one....just like Butch says...gotta win the one on one match ups...and if that guy across from you starts getting the best of you and you can't overcome it...it gets in your head...you lose.

Surely a self appointed bad @$$ like you know that from your Pop Warner days.

You know if we need an OC, that young fellow at Alabama with the pretty wife may soon be available. What,...oh really? Seriously, that's ....him.

Uh... Never mind.

They act like they are shell shocked....scared to engage and play ugly...like they may hurt someone's feelings.

At one point both the RT and the RB whiffed on the DE and gave up a sack. I just do not understand how we are getiing beat so bad on the edge by opposing DE.

The big problem is we should be able to run the ball right into the area the DE is vacating but the interior of the d-line is getting so far up the filed everything we run looks like a stretch play.

Holding is a good idea.
We should start from there and work backwards

Dooley's staff had Skipper committed and he is better than any lineman on UTs roster.
Not to mention Pittman is one of the best coaches around. If CBJ had retained Pittman, Skipper would be starting and this team would be 5-1.

Blame Dooley but CBJ has 3 of his first class O-line recruits backing up Dooley recruits.

This is the worst offensive line I can ever remember at UT. I'm not sure we have any talent on the O line or if they are just poorly coached. To struggle to even get 100 yards rushing against an FCS opponent is ludicrous. We may be lucky to win another game, yes , even Vandy unless some changes are made in the O line.

Look dude, my problem is with our offensive product, not you. But you insist on defending this crappy offense... First regarding the screen, you realize you're talking about UTC "setting up the pick 6" with their pressure against SEC athletes at their home field. Second, you couldn't have made my point better about there being no hole to run through. I couldn't agree with you more, its time we find a way to make a hole. Against teams like UTC. UTC.

Duuuuuuude, nobody is defending anything. The offensive line is the cornerstone on which an offense is built upon. I know full well that we are talking the same UTC that was able to pressure Worley so yes absolutely they could set up a pick 6 and had they done so early in the game the result might have been very bad whether it be UTC or anyone else. Until that line matures, every bit of speculation regarding what UT needs to do is worthless. Any decent Defense will quickly adjust to any adjustments we make.

By "we" I mean the program most on this board cheer for, and as an alumnus I mean we. And "our" program is suffering from some bad coaching of the oline. And yes, that is ultimately Jones' call, but something's got to change with the offensive production. It starts with the o line. Period.

Relax chief. I'm an alumnus as well, class of '90, but as much as I may gripe and moan on here, I got no say in the matter. Only Jones is gonna make that call which was my point.

Heard one of the guys on the radio talking about the need for extra film study to understand assignments against any given opponent. That is sad if those guys, who know they are the weak link, do not want to put in the extra work to figure something out.

If that soft, feminine, slow, weak, O-line isn't made to run till fluids are coming out of EVERY orifice on their bodies...

Exactly! There really is no other way to say it. This OL is a bunch of....

They re getting worse as the season goes on.

screw it...let's just play ironman football the rest of the year with some of the Defensive guys taking over the O-line.

....we can use the O-line to hold up the goal post.:dance2:
