The nerve of some of these so-called fans

Shut up piss ant. This thread is about me and others like me. People who are catching grief for being realistic about what is happening right now. There are people, like me, who didn't want Schiano, but we wouldn't stoop to slandering the man to keep him out. We love the program too, but we wouldn't embarrass the school and fan base by making such uninformed, irrelevant claims. We don't deserve to be bad-mouthed and told to "get out" for agreeing with the overwhelming majority of people who have a take on this program.

So yes. This is about me, and others like me. So sick of the same damn threads over and over again.

I wonder why anyone would ever ask for you to leave their party? You bring a super fun energy to things.

First of all, until I see "MaxxNation" on the address bar at the top of the browser, I don't owe you a thing. I'm glad that your father played football and even more appreciative of what he and other African American players must have gone through in order to play the game. But what does that buy you? Why is this board about your hurt feelings all of a sudden? Should I start a thread now wailing about how I should have gotten more "likes" for my dumb Penix joke in the recruiting forum?

Schiano is a bum. We are lucky we didn't get him. Im proud of our fan base for putting thier collective foot down and I think that those who are critical of the backlash are under-informed. Schiano can coach a little but he has proven to be a pri*k at every stop he has made and until HE (Schiano) is under oath and denies what McQuuery said about him, then I'm withholding judgement on what he saw. Easy to declare you/someone innocent when you aren't at risk of purjuring yourself.

Either way, maybe you should get to work on setting up the "Web's Angriest Forum" so you can explain why your dad's accomplishments allow you to cuss strangers of the internet. I'll join up. You'll be able to find me by my handle - Piss Ant.

Edit: grammar

Like who? Who,in your opinion has more influence than Haslam and Currie?

there's no single person. it was a group of mid level and other top level boosters, and some inside the UTAD that spear headed it.

for it to even happen, the news had to be leaked...and it was a UTAD employee that works for currie iirc that leaked it. there were many of those type of boosters and UTAD officials that were opposed to hiring Schiano. the plan was to fly him back and announce it. they got the info out, and the rest is history.

I will admit I cringed when I saw the rock picture.

yeah, i knew when i saw that, it wasn't going to go over well. i'm no expert on that case, but since schiano's name was brought up a week and a half ago, those articles have been posted all over the place. i read them.

i knew it was a double hearsay at that point. whoever painted that on the rock...didn't.

still, i'm glad the fan base got something done for once, on a united front.

we'll pay for it short term. we'll keep paying for it long term if this admin/booster/coach thing doesn't get resolved.

This is exactly what I am talking about. EVERY TIME someone says something you don't like you start cursing them..........do you have ANY class? Are you really a Vol talking to EVERYONE like this?

Man grow up and act like a decent human. Sure people pizz us off all the time.......but respond and prove them wrong....when you act like this it makes everyone think the worst......not in the other guy.....but in you.

If you take out the "shut up piss ant" its a pretty fair and decent post tho. He just needs to not state that part but denigrating him with the 'do you have ANY class' comment and much of your response is a bit
of pot calling the kettle black. Sure you didnt cuss but still. I realize Im jumping in the middle of a conversation only reading these two comments but maxxx is making good points, just needs to drop the insults. I think you could tell him that without making him feel like the scum of the earth. just saying

He has made a TON of these posts over the past couple of days. He has also totally trashed Vol fans......all of them. He has certainly cursed people and called them names.........this was merely one example.

I didn't call anyone anything, and I certainly asked about the class.....and n'grow up" because when people act like that.....when they act so selfish, and trash talk most anyone for any reason......yes that is pretty classless..........and not how grown people should act.

Sure you can equate me to him that is your opinion, however this is totally different. I was merely showing the OP how he was being perceived by others.....because of what he has said and done so much over the past two days.

I don't curse anyone.......and I certainly will never EVER trash, tear down, mock, or anything to an entire class, group, type of people........because of what a few have done. Some people are so torn up by what some "fans" did they can't help but do to ALL vol fans exactly what they are accusing the Vol fans of doing.......and the OP is one of them.

If someone is being, or if someone is, classless, there is no harm no moral repercussion in calling them out on that. Especially if you then try to show why that is and try to get them to change the perceived perception.

I agree with you, and I thought that you were trying to help him out. I was just saying you had some condescending tones in there so if your true goal was to help him, you dont need to use that kind of mean language IMO. Im not saying you were, but an intelligent person can say much more hurtful things than simple cuss words, even if its not explicit such as using implicit insults and rhetorical questions

It's a very unfortunate fact of life today that allegations are considered proof of guilt. The stuff painted on the rock is the same stuff that recruiters for other teams would have been using against UT, so maybe the timing was better this way if it served the purpose. That doesn't make it right, but the Washington Post and others printed the material that lead to that line of reasoning, so it's a bit hypocritical of the media to be slamming UT fans when they themselves printed the original material as news and for profit.

U.T. fans are quick to believe something bad about a coach they don't think is good enough for them, because somebody "testified under oath," therefore it must be true.

Somehow, they don't believe Jamie Nautright who also "testified under oath" that Peyton Manning put his ass, testicles, and taint on her head. They believe what they want to believe.

Yes......and I was trying to tear him down......not in a horrible sense, or even in a bad way. If someone doesn't even see what is wrong with a problem they cannot fix the problem..........since we know this is a person I wasn't trying to fix himself, but merely hoping he would see what others saw (tear him down)...............and you can never be build up if you are not taken down........maybe it was not my job to do so, but with days of this he obviously didn't even see it. If he could finally see it (by my post....which is at best unlikely) then he.....himself would understand, and start building himself back........just as I was describing at the end of the post.

We have all been to football games. Thousands upon thousands of great fans........and always.....a few jack nutz.....doing jack nutz things......this is no different; however with say 500,000 fans......should we really be called out for what a few hundred did?

Most people that took to social media, called legislators, and even walked with signs, did so in a proper manner.....and never said anything about "pedophile enabler".....yet all of us get thrown into that basket.

The media tried their best to crucify all Vol fans.....as did thousands of people......including Vol fans. We should not accept what the few did; however everyone MUST accept that it was merely the few who did anything wrong.

Funny how all of a sudden we have an influx of old names I've never seen post before.

Just goes to show what a **** show our AD and main boosters are at the present time. Crawlin out of the woodwork.

I personally don't believe or disbelieve the allegations. To me it's like the "useful idiot" category. The Schiano offer would never have been killed for the right reasons - that Schiano was Butch Jones reincarnate, and even more that the allegations would have been used against us in recruiting.

Why in the hell would any sane person hire a clone of the coach he just fired - especially when the new one comes with a poison pill.

Schiano's horrible reputation with his players and coaches prove he clearly had some serious character flaws. That along with the testimony should at the very least give you pause.

The guy may not have done it but it is possible and not disproven. Has nothing to do with his win-loss record for me and many others, but his character does make him not good enough for our university whether the PSU accusations are true or not.

And lumping all fans into your hypocrite category for not wanting him is simply not even close to accurate. Most of us had nothing to do with painting the rock.

I think it was encouraging to see so many unified, and that it had some effect. We haven’t been that unified since rooting for the title back in 98. It was the combination of putting forth a coach with sub-par coaching results, ridicule from former players and opponents as well as the perception of the PSU allegations.

Maybe if he had just one of those, the backlash wouldn’t have been as severe, but the combination make it look like another devastating hire. If we’re wrong we can all admit it, when he gets his next head coaching job and proves it, but I won’t be holding my breath for that.

To question me as a supporter of the program, and suggest that I "get off the site". Go F yourselves. Don't be salty because others don't view the program from a slanted point of view. My father was one of the first African Americans to play in this program. I grew up bleeding UT orange. To have these goofballs question my support because I look at things objectively is the main reason why soooo many outside of the program don't respect the program.
These so called fans are the main reason UT is being roasted nationally and not toasted nationally.

Yea.. It's the fans dude. It has nothing to do with:

- AD reporting to the Chancellor
- AA skimming money off the top of the AD
- Haslam controlling the AD
- AD putting a $900K buy-out on Kiffin Fyer he told them upfront he would leave for USC
- panicking and hiring Dooley
-hiring butch Jones
- dragging it's feet to fire Butch Jones
- the AD not discussing Schiano with anyone in the AD or the boosters

The fact is you blame this on the fans but the reality is that the boosters nixed the deal. You need to educate yourself, just like the national media, before making a strong stand to the point you are attacking others. People are calling you out because the basis of your argument is not made on to of complete knowledge of the situation. Through the past 10yrs of terrible football this university has been supported by TN fans at elite levels. No. 2 in the country in revenues. Top 10 in attendance. The fans are the only thing holding this together but you act like the problem is the fans. It's is an uninformed and ignorant take

My dad told me the right thing to do is almost never the easy or most popular thing to do. I’ve never been more proud to be a Vol than I was Sunday.
