The Minimum Wage: What's the Big Deal?

Surely the prices are going up if the money is becoming more worthless. Or are you blind to see that?

It is about perspective. You can either look at it as the price going up or the cash being devalued. But as I've shown earlier, the cost of items relative to silver seems to be pretty stable over the last 50 years, but the amount of fiat trash dollars needed to purchase goods and services has increased.

But believe whatever... as long as it helps you sleep at night.

I do not feel sorry for anyone making minimum wage. With sites like Fiverr and Uber there are more opportunities than ever to freelance with no education requires

And another thing, little Hogelitistknowitall88, all you've done is confirm my original post and the origins of this thread, wherein I stated that I know this is an anti-poor people forum (because they're fun to make fun of and it makes us all feel good about ourselves), but....

You think you're better than everyone else, including me, because you make more money.

That's fine and dandy. A good reason to think one is better than another, but do you kiss your Jesus with that mouth?

Anyhow, you've made it clear why you don't like a higher minimum wage:

You hate poor people.

You've said so yourself.

Don't even try to wriggle your weasely little ass out this one. Any person with an IQ above 50 realizes you've basically said so yourself on here.

So, your position on minimum wage, no matter how "smart" and wealthy and ingenious and brilliant and the wheels of America you are, has pretty much been invalidated.

Thank you, wheels of America. You still suck at life.

Dear God in heavan, what crawled up your ass and died.

Funny how he frequently complains about the hate on this board when you read these kind of posts.

He didn't always post in such ways. I'm afraid he's going through some crap stuff right now.

How do you figure that? I don't know of any unions that look for anything remotely close to minimum wage.

The pint is that they would say that union pay rates must have a big spread vs the minimum. Wage, therefore when the miniimun goes up the unions get a lift as well when the job become open

See, your problem, dingus, is that you think the fast food jobs that allow you to get your friday evening smug glut on are just "high school kid" jobs.

My stupid public-funded dumbass has actually worked with the public, has taught them too, as has my mother who works with a DSS department.

Some (many people, in fact) aren't has privileged as your smug little rear, and they are neither capable of the intellectual needs of a college education or capable of getting one, even if they are.

But tell us again how you grew up on a farm with parents who always encouraged you to succeed, so anyone can do it. Just like me.

Dingus.

That's a huge chip there on your shoulder ......

Small business owners employ the majority of the workforce and provide the bulk of the jobs, I'm grateful for entrepreneurs like hog who weren't scared to take a chance and start a Damn business.. you could learn a thing or two from him numb nuts.😝

That's not true, he didn't build that.

To the OP:

What should the minimum wage be and what is your criteria for setting it? (you indicated earlier the current is not enough but 15 is too much - how do you arrive at that).

You critique the free market yet putting faith in central planning also has it's problems no? Do you trust that our political system yields optimal or anywhere near optimal solutions? Clearly there is a link between a minimum wage and total employment. What is the goal for the minimum wage?

The minimum wage is not a big deal to me but while you have problems with those that oppose it, I have problems with those who suggest it ought to be "x" without showing the logic, who claim it won't raise costs (CBO pointed out likely job losses from current proposals; I guess they are wrong), or being against it means you hate poor people (the worst and weakest argument of the bunch)

Seems to me if one really hated poor people they would be in favor of raising the minimum wage knowing it would cost many of their jobs.

Libs dont understand economics.............

Job creation per year in office as president.

rep. bush sr. 625k

DEM Clinton 2.9M

rep bush jr 375k

DEM Obama 2.4M

Proof positive "trickle down" economics has never or ever will work. America works best when we work together.

what policies = work together?

Also, if I show you the poverty rate at the beginning of the War on Poverty and now would you agree its proof positive that government handouts don't work?

If you increase the size of government then you are going to artificially inflate the jobs numbers. I'd love you to post how much tax receipts increased during those periods of 'massive differences in job growth', I doubt there was any discernible change at all. Artificial jobs don't grow the economy or create wealth..
