My opinion on ZBO.......
Everybody's ready to ship ZBO out. Well we better get someone who will demand the ball, do the dirty work around the basket, banging and rebounding. I wouldn't trade Mark G for any big man in the league, but he ain't selfish enough and ain't gonna get in their and GRIND like ZBO. They are a perfect fit playing together and finding some outside shooting is gonna be the difference. ZBO looked bad against the Spurs, but he was double and triple teamed the entire series. Hell, I couldn't have done much better! (hehe) That's all I got folks !
Less than 100 days til "IT'S FOOTBALL TIME IN TENNESSEE " GBO
Got to think big picture. I honestly never see us winning a title with ZBo. Not knocking him. But he isn't consistent enough and was up and down this past season too much in critical times. Cant have that in the playoffs as we saw. Part of that is because we did not have perimeter scoring to lighten the load and partly because he just didn't show up. More evidence of this is his performance from the charity stripe. Mind just wasn't right. Also he is use to traffic down low. I wouldn't be mad if he is back next year. Love the guy. But it will be a very risky going forward. He only has so much left in the tank before he becomes a huge drain on the cap. He still has enough left in him to bring some quality returns via trade. Lord knows we need some picks. And next years draft class is going to be very deep and loaded. All of this is JMO of course.
ZBO's residence will always be in Memphis, regardless of who he plays for. He has said he wants to retire from the grizz. If that's true, I say we offer him, but at a lower salary. If he takes it, great. If not, shop him.
I've thought about that. Don't see that happening though.
I hate the business side of basketball. Cause guys like Zbo fit in Memphis. They become Memphis. Same for TA. They gave Memphis basketball an identity and to a lesser extent Memphis as a whole with the Grit and the Grind. You just don't see things like that in other NBA towns. But the goal remains the same. Bringing home a ring, thats what it is all about.
