The meltdown that is happening on the Vandy message boards

Vandy football is so irrelevant even to its own fanbase that the posters on VM are now spending most of their time talking about UT, Bob Shoop, and James Franklin/Penn State.

So pretty much back to normal then?

Yep. And living in Nashville, I can certainly say that Vanderbilt football is once again 100% invisible even from a marketing standpoint. During the Franklin era, the program received a ton of media coverage (even before he was winning), there were billboards, commercials, promo materials hanging in bars, etc.

Now...nothing.

There is also an inordinate amount of advocacy on Vandymania for 5-7 teams being allowed to play in bowl games. I suppose they think that's their ceiling now, though I'm not sure five wins isn't just a bit delusional.

Man, it's good to see the Vols rising and Vandy securely affixing themselves to the floor of the SEC once again. When this thread was started they had just won 9 games two years in a row (and beat us both years) and we had missed a bowl for the third year in a row. Now we are potentially preseason top 10 in 2016 and they are stuck with a coach whose ceiling is 5-7.

Looking at their recruiting class has me laughing. Even on a down year for us, pending an awesome NSD, we are lapping them. Not saying we are currently where we want to be but looking at the implied direction of recruiting.....

As per usual their top ranked guy would be our 4th, based on 247, but then you get to the rest of their class. Especially if you bother looking at their offers. I will take our 3 stars with offers from Bama and OSU over theirs with offers from Miss State and Wake

You guys need a laugh? Read this!

You guys want to horse laugh?? Read the delusional comments section.

Just, wow. James Franklin: Man of Character hahaha hahaha bwhahaha

It's possible I'm wrong, everyone thinks they've found "the guy who will stay" when they're in our position. However, I believe very strongly that CJF has shown a very special dedication to Vanderbilt that a lot of outsiders don't understand.

And about a month later, Franklin was gone. So yeah, he was wrong. Dead wrong. And quite naïve.

And about a month later, Franklin was gone. So yeah, he was wrong. Dead wrong. And quite naïve.

That was a special couple of weeks. First the outright denial from Vandy fans about the possibility that Franklin would leave. Then the desperate pleas for Vandy to offer him everything he wants to get him to stay. Then the sinking realization that the "EwwTee" fans were right and their savior was abandoning them.

And finally, the hatred and disgust once he started pilfering their recruiting class.

And now they have gone from being 18-8 over two seasons to being 7-17.

But in the aftermath, they had a lot of hope with Mason and what he was bringing. I remember a couple of people claiming Mason would have them in the SEC Championship in year 2 and on to the playoffs the next year.

However, in year 1 those hopes were smashed. And the same again this year. However, winning more games in 2015 gave them a blip of hope on their radars as they believe their OOC games aren't as tough this year (WKY, MTSU, Tennessee State and GA Tech) and they might make a bowl game.

Brentwood DT Brandon Adams flips from Vandy to Georgia Tech haha

He flipped to GT just two days after taking an official visit to Vandy! Embarrassing.

Apparently, a visit to Vandy serves to remind a recruit how fortunate he is to have offers from other schools.
