The meltdown that is happening on the Vandy message boards

Vandy is not improved. That is a terrible WKU team.

That was an ugly football game.

This. WKU was way over hyped (again) and Vandy was just Vandy. Any "improvement" was misdiagnosed because Vandy literally used their entire playbook to try and win, and were still terrible and got beaten by a terrible conference USA team.

UT is going to eat them alive.

wow they gave away tickets. To a good cause, but they gave away tickets.

What was the cause?

local children charities. they way they were talking there was a good number of them there. again, good cause, great thing by Vanderbilt, but pathetic at the same time. (again I only got this from a VM poster)
they also called my son's school to offer tickets to the entire football team. Coach said no because the team would have been out beyond curfew.

Good play coach.

To be honest, I feel really bad for mason. He's, by all accounts, a good guy a la Cuonzo. I hope he finds success at a different program as a DC again because that's clearly his strength. Awful head guy, good coordinator.

I'm going to enjoy watching Caleb azabikkndihnfeisa flail around this year. Couldn't happen to a better guy. He'll be running around Antioch this time next year with that Peabody degree.

To say Vandy has improved is like praising a 500 lb man for losing 5 lbs.

And had WKU not had the drops last night, it would have been over much earlier.

I agree they're improved; especially defensively. I just don't think it was handed to WKU. That 2 pt conversion stop was a big time play when Mason thought he was going to waltz in.

and WKU let Vandy be in that game by hardly catching a ball in the first half.

lol. your coach didn't want to say he would rather laugh from the comfort of his own home.

Mamas don't let your babies grow up to be Dereks
They can't coach at all, not even peewee football
Just let 'em deliver pizzas and subs

Currently their board is in full dichotomous apologist/pitchfork grabbing mode, and it is wonderful. Some of the comments rationalize a home loss to WKU so much, that you'd think it was Derek Mason attempting to save his job.

Haha!!!

Karen Yates aka Ms Douchebag posted a reminder that terms of service still apply to everyone... in other words no name calling, bashing people and players and no calling for coaches to be fired... what the hell else can you talk about after an outing like that?

SIAP

"I had a sheet that I had been looking for for the last 18 months," Mason said. "Lo and behold, about two weeks ago, it popped up. I found it in my library of football books."
What he found was a detailed list of game situations and what he should do in each of them. According to his timeline, he had it when he accepted the job at Vanderbilt last January (or shortly thereafter). He was without it, though, when the Commodores went 3-9 and failed to win an SEC game for the first time in five years.
"I had already gone through that list and really remembered a couple of items on there that needed to be checked off," Mason said. "Now, I feel really good about what we're doing and where we're at."

Pretty comical. Looks like it didn't help much anyway...

"By "drag them down" do you mean we have a lower arrest rate for our student athletes than other SEC schools? By "drag them down" do you mean we have higher standards of admission for student athletes? By "drag them down" do you mean that our student athletes average a higher GPA than other SEC schools? Oh wait. By "drag them down" you just mean that our football team doesn't win like others schools. Nevermind the fact that our baseball team is the best program in the nation or our basketball team actually stands a chance at the NCAA tourney (unlike most other SEC teams). The only sad thing is how embarrassingly short-sighted some people are."

If memory serves, Virginia currently has the best baseball program in the country. Also, Vandy basketball last appeared in the NCAAT back in 2012 and has made it past the round of 64 in only 2 of 5 appearances in the tournament since 2007.

Tennessee is going to wrap that anchor and chain around the Commodore and drop him to the bottom. Vandy will get severely beaten this season but their fans(however few they are)should be used to that.

Will you still say this when UGA annihilates them by 40+ points next week?

Vandy looked completely lost on defense last year, hence firing of their DC. They limited the YAC last night and missed very few tackles. I can see them getting blown out because the offense won't move the ball and the defense will end up on the field too long.
