The meltdown that is happening on the Vandy message boards

What's funny is last year's UT/Vandy game is more proof to me that things are back to normal. It strongly resembled the "classic" 90s UT/Vandy game: Vandy comes in with a handful of wins but puts up their best effort of the year, and UT comes in with much to play for but definitely better and it ends up a closer game than it should have been.

UT came in missing a ton of players and still win ugly in Nashville. That says alot about where things stand right now. Vandy tried to spin it into a moral victory like we used to do with dooley lol. Ive heard Mason bring up the Tennessee game about 4 times. But really we were short handed at their place and still won. Thats all that matters, Derek. Its gonna be a damn beatdown this year in Knoxville.

This. Several months later including just earlier today someone over there brings up this game and says that UT was essentially lucky to leave with the win. However, they just absolutely refuse to acknowledge that UT was missing several key players for that game and still won despite VU going 110% for that game as they usually do. I remember one guy over there pointed that out a few weeks ago but that person has since been banned for allegedly being a uut Viles troll.

With all the excuses I've seen over there, if should have/could have counted as wins they would have played in the national championship last year.

Vandy fans have horrible memories, it seems.

Interesting fact:

Vanderbilt has only defeated UT 9 times since the end of World War II.

So what you're saying is...

Vanderbilt has only beaten(off to) UT 9 times since the end of World War II?

Virgins.

even dooley found his way to a bowl game.

What's kind of sad (well, no, not really) is that four of those seven have been in the last ten years.

So between 1890 when the program was started and 2007, a stretch of 117 years, they only had three bowl game appearances.

Three Bowl appearances. And it took them 53 years to actually win one (1955 was last win prior to 2008).

History is important.

History is selectively important. After the recent 3-9 campaign, their past performance does not matter because it is a new season. That is what some of them were saying at least. But at the same time UT football only began in about 2005 and their history actually is important.

Their "Vanderbilt reVealed" video for the UMASS win is absolutely hysterical.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1difhE4SoLA

The beginning of the video shows the astonishing lack of fan support for the program. Looks like there's legitimately a grand total of 50 fans watching the team walk to the stadium.

Then you've got Mason's "fiery" pre-game speech to get the team pumped to go to battle against what is quite possibly the worst team in FBS football.

A few highlights of Vandy executing some unremarkable plays and we're back to Mason in the locker room, screaming and howling to motivate his guys to beat a team that was FCS just three years prior and that went 1-11 in 2013.

Finally, the game is over and Vandy escapes with a win. Mason looks like a kid on Christmas morning and even gets presented with a game ball from AD David Williams. For beating UMASS!

Speaking of David Williams, the guy looks comatose at the end of the video.
Good bourbon, liberally applied, will do that.

I'll just leave this here:

I hope CSS is correct about Ga. , we have them second game ....hopefully enough of them will still be suspended . but but we have always had a good chance with them except for last year. After beating WKU this would a great way to start the year off, great defense and a decent offense would do it...can't wait can't wait. It could be a good year. My point - if we beat Western , Ga don't scare me a bit.
Trust the process

Don Yates just said the following :loco::
"Outstanding students athletes from the entire state of Tennessee are welcome to play at Vanderbilt, the real University of Tennessee."

Luckily most of the outstanding student athletes from Tennessee are smarter than he gives them credit for.

According to the first response from Google:

Don Yates : KEXP Music Director I'm in charge of managing the station's music, and since what we mostly do is play music, it's quite a task!

So... Who is Don Yates?
