The meltdown that is happening on the Vandy message boards

The trip across the bridge from where LP and all the tailgating is all the way over to midtown/west end is really quite the hike unless you're taking an uber or cab. I doubt many Vol fans would bother to attend.

Agreed. If there was another sports event occurring at the Bridgestone I could see it, but Broadway will be a sea of orange all day and no one will care about making a trip to West End.

I will if the game times are far enough apart. As in WKU-Vandy is at 11am and UT-BGSU is at 6pm or vice versa. And tickets are only $10-$15 on the secondary market. I say only but that's probably still too much for a vandy game.

They are doomed . There is a Bob Ross marathon on pbs that morning.

I hope its the stays Saturday. Seeing more orange and red at the Vandy game than black and gold would be priceless. If there are more UT and WKU fans at the game then Vandy fans, does that mean WKU would essentially have the homefiels advantage?

While I agree that this would be awesome, if the game does happen to be switched to Thursday, I still see a few pros to this:
1. I think Vandy has lost 3 straight Thursday home openers. Looks like another loss this time around.
2. If it's Thursday it may get more viewership since college football fans all across the country are hungry to see any action. Though the game will probably end up on ESPN the Ocho or similar, a wide audience will have an opportunity to see the Commodores get laughed out of their own stadium.
3. The delusional, now dejected fan base will have all day Saturday to witness downtown Nashville turn orange. Angry diatribes on Vandymania are sure to ensue and will each have at least one of their buzzwords: butchugger, uut, yewtee, uthug, etc.

I don't think it is, but I'm a bit concerned with you being on this site that ranks other dudes "hot or not".

Unfortunately, your lack of knowledge of the app (and many other posters) shows. You choose the picture and tag line (so the guy who took this picture chose it and posted it) and it just shows up to anyone within a certain radius. Just saw it scrolling down and thought it was funny because of how much it fits franklin's arrogant personality and needing constant reassurance.

Hopefully the announcers from dodgeball call the game on The Ocho

From Golddore68, one of Yates's Vandymania henchmen:

Can't believe we scheduled Western Kentucky

Getting blown out by Temple last year in our opener was bad enough, but we've set ourselves for another loss like that this year in our first game.

Western Kentucky is a very good team. Brandon Doughty is a tremendous quarterback and probably will be one of the top quarterbacks picked in the NFL Draft next year. He led the nation in passing yards and touchdown passes last year as a junior.

In recent years WKU has beaten Kentucky so they've had some success against SEC teams.

Then later on in the season we play at MTSU. This is another very dangerous team which is going to be a very difficult game. We lost to MTSU when we were 5-0 going up against them when CBJ was our coach. We lost to MTSU twice when Woody was our coach.

Last season was bad enough for Vandy, but this season has a chance of being catastrophic.

They will end up anywhere from 1-11 to 3-9, which should (but isn't guaranteed) to result in the entire staff getting canned.

David Williams will have to search for yet another coordinator to take over the job (because no head coach at any level will touch it), except this time he won't even be able to get a "big" name like Mason because the job will require a gargantuan rebuilding effort in a hyper competitive SEC.

Their recruiting will nosedive even further than it already is and the 2016 class will probably finish somewhere in the 80s/90s nationally.

When combined with the inevitable attrition/transfers that come with a new coaching staff, the talent level will fall back to pre-Bobby Johnson levels and Vandy will be not just one of the worst teams in the SEC, but one of the worst in the country...even compared to Sun Belt/C-USA programs.

Spot on analysis. This is most likely what will happen.

"We are an SEC football team. Our coach has so many advantages in this [WKU] match up it should not be a problem - no matter how young we are."

This guy will be served a hearty dose of reality opening weekend.

hahah and then a poster below quickly asked him what those advantages were besides their linebackers? hahaha

thats funny bc there really isnt any other advantages over WKU other than that. I'd take WKUs entire offense over Vandys all day long.

Vandy has the closest betting line in the SEC for week 1. They are -3 ( 3 pt favorites) at home vs WKU. This is basically a pick em bc you normally get 3 pts for just being the home team. If this game was at WKU or on a neutral field it would be even. The over under is like 72 or 73pts. Expect a shootout if thats the case and i like WKU in a shootout bc of their offense.

I don't think Vandy is capable of scoring more than 24 points with just their offense. WKU is certainly capable of putting up 35+ with theirs.

Vandy will need a pick six or a special teams touchdown to stay in that one, IMO.

so the same as temple last year, except not staying close what so ever. I don't think Vandy could score enough points against air to meet what WKU will dish out. their LBs aren't going to help them much against the passing game.

exactly. Bowden, Weatherly and those guys are run stuffing type backers. The way WKU runs their offense will carve Vandy to shreds IMO.

That math simply doesn't add up. Vandy as a 3 point favorite would need to score 37 or 38 points if that over/under line is accurate. Just don't think their offense has that type of production capability.
