The meltdown that is happening on the Vandy message boards

they have a thread asking about them going 1fer. from Dallasdore:
Unfortunately, it is certainly possible. Maybe not likely, but possible. Anything short of hiring squirrels would be an improvement, but I am not very excited about our offseason moves. Maybe Ludwig turns out to be something very special to us, but the fact of the matter is that he was headed for the unemployment line if we didn't hire him. His own HC who went on to a different program did not even retain him. And as for the DC debacle? Nobody would touch the position, so Mason is stuck doing it himself. Only a few very talented head coaches successfully double as coordinators, and I don't think very many people will argue that Mason is a very talented head coach.

Our best option at QB is gone, and we are left with a couple of INT throwers and a true freshman. Our line grossly underperforms with this staff, the team seems listless against any team not named UT, and our defensive players seem out of position a lot with huge cushions given by the corners. Add bad coaching to that, a schedule that includes two local teams that will be licking their chops to play us (and have some talent themselves), and an away game against a team that has a recent history of beating power-5 teams, with the SEC slate... it will be tough.

Last year I picked the lowest win total in the preseason prediction contest, and I was still too high. This year I will likely predict two wins (not locking into any prediction until August), and hope that I am not too high again.

i love how they have been hanging on that moral victory on defense in the UT game. Like they dont even realize UT was missing a ton of offensive players in that game. Even some who did play literally only played a couple snaps (croom, hurd). Hell, we didnt have crowder, josh smith, north. Gilliam was out there on one leg lol. But we still won haha

they are banking on Mason being an awesome coordinator as well as head coach to have any success next year.

their thread indicates they are worried about being out-talented by Houston and WKU but they think they will play a lot of SEC games close and maybe eke out some wins.

there was a break down of "probable outcomes from the season" one group were nothing but good leading to a 5 win season and the other group was a nothing but bad leading to a no win season. and it seems they have sold out on the moral victories they will find this year.

Plus, their coaches obviously prepared for the UT game for two weeks. They knew Miss St would blow them out and didn't game plan for it, opting instead to spend two weeks on UT.

Gotta admit though they did have an impressive game against us by their 2014 standards. That was probably the best they played all year. It was enough that I was nervous.

We had to tease em with a little glimmer of hope. Keeping it close throughout and shattering their dreams close to the end was the way to go.

One of the newest threads on VandyMania questioning why Dobbs came to Tennessee instead of picking Stanford or Vandy--as if they're even close to being academic peers.

Maybe because Tennessee has many good academic programs and Dobbs wanted to win an SEC game en route to getting his education?

Why are Vandy fans so deluded?

I didn't know Vandy offered an aerospace engineering degree...

Dobbs' parents are smart, and academics were a priority with the family. The UT College of Engineering was used in his recruitment, and the excellence of the college was a determining factor in his decision to come to UT. Vandy can feel as superior as they want, but sometimes reality steps in and bites them. Academics are why Josh Dobbs is at UT playing football; he had opportunities to go to a lot of schools...so thank the COE next time you see him step on Shields Watkins Field:)
