only vanderbilt would be excited about finishing in the top 10... Of their own conference. Why do those people even watch sports? I like bad teams but at least they're pro and have a chance to be good at some point. Vanderbilt will never have the pull to be good at the college level. At least not in football or basketball. Not unless they switch conferences or land a hall of fame coach that will never leave their program. What person has ever shown up at vandy though and thought to themselves... "i wanna spend my career here". No hall of fame coach would ever do that. Now, a 5 win football coach or a 15 win basketball coach, they might stay there forever because that's overachieving at a p.o.s. Program like vanderbilt. It's no wonder finishing 10th out of 14 in conference is considered success. The fact that they can even field a football team is a success if you ask me. But actually winning? Gtfo. They win every time their program still hasn't been shut down due to being totally inept in the football and basketball world of sports. For the record, i think i understand why they feel superior academically as their fans talk crap. I as well, am impressed by their genius. They've found a way to continue making sec money despite producing a cusa quality product on the field and court. At least when we suck, tennessee can generate revenue, spends money and fills stadiums. Vanderbilt can't even fill their stadium of 40,000. The revenue they're bringing into the sec actually devalues the conference and takes money out of the pockets of programs that have actually earned it. I predict decades upon decades of vandy missing a bowl but getting a cut of the revenue. Vandy really is smart... When a cockroach can get an equal share, they've definitely outsmarted you.

After our loss to Kentucky...
lol...

They stink. Loser mentality. No leader. Scared. Poorly coached. The wait til next year slogan needs to become the athletic departments new mantra.
Worst loss I can remember. And to friggin uT. Stallings gets to eat a lot of the blame - lousy coaching as well as pitiful middle school free throw shooting.

opcorn:
David Williams, VU chancellor (they don't have an AD, as Gordon Ghee, former chancellor disbanded their "athletic department years ago) has put greater emphasis on athletics in recent years than any of my now 35 years in Nashville.
They're upgrading facilities (which will still be woefully behind the rest of the SEC) and paying a competitive salary to coaches.
The problem is, as you said, limited access to elite athletes, especially in comparison to a college like Stanford.
That, and they have like 100 fans show up for games...
It hilarious how he's shocked they lost to us. Stallings has a losing record vs UT and is .500 or worse vs every UT coach he's faced. What did they expect.
This was the crowd that showed up to hear Mason speak today at the Sportsfest thing they had. LMAO. Butch couldn't make it because of the weather.

The fact that Butch couldn't make it, Inky couldn't make it and it was an absolute downpour all day in the mid-state, I'm sure the whole crowd was pretty pathetic. I was planning on going until I woke up and saw outside, then it was no longer worth the 80 mile round trip.
Yet, if Butch would've been there, the place would've been packed. There was still a pretty good crowd there from what I hear. Just not to see Capt'n AnchorFrown.
