Okay, but I don't recall anyone calling any of those guys philosophers. They're funny, very funny sometimes. But pillars of knowledge of what's best for society? I think that's beyond their skill sets.

I think mocking is a very useful societal tool..it's better than the trend toward universal acceptance of everything..think of it as a virtual stock without the back pain :) and I'm saying this as a libertarian

Matt Stone and Trey Parker are incredibly funny, yes, but I think they also do a good job of making South Park into social commentary that transcends mere humor.

Your comment reminded me of a story my friend told me from when he was a "student" at UT.

My friend was barreling through his only semester in Knoxville in 2005 when they came back and beat LSU with Rick Clauwson "Bob Davie voice". He said when Riggs Jr ran that TD in to win in OT, everybody ran down to the stadium. Next thing he knows, a mattress is burning, and the firetrucks pulled up. Everybody was ready to turn around and take the party elsewhere, and then one of the firemen got on a megaphone and started belting "It's Great To Be A Tennessee Vol!" And they turned the hoses on the crowd and not the mattress.

I've always been a little skeptical considering my friend easily ranked somewhere around a level three or four alcoholic during his time in k-town, but he and his roommate swear that these events happened. Also, I know how things can get on The Hill as we all do. Just thought I would share.
