Why would you pull academics if VT is ranked higher, is harder to get into, and has higher salary at graduation, and when one of your fellow SEC schools is cancelling school for the national title game. Just stick to football![]()
Tennessee admits 64% of applicants.
Va Tech admits 65% of applicants.
Va Tech is also bolstered by being heavily engineering. If you're not going there for engineering or architecture it is very mediocre. The higher salary is also because of the higher engineering population. That is why Mississippi State has a higher starting salary than Vandy, not because it is a better school. Major by major I'd bet the salaries are very comparable. Tennessee might have a slight edge in business, and Va Tech might have a slight one in engineering, but nothing significant. I also don't see what Alabama postponing three days of classes has to do with anything at all.
I got into both Va Tech and Tennessee, but Tennessee has a much better business school than Va Tech, and is much more nationally known. The student body at Tennessee was also a lot cooler, and there is so much more to do. Knoxville is also a much better place than Blacksburg. If someone can get into Tennessee and Va Tech, I don't see how any rational person would choose Va Tech. Then again, not all people are rational.
