The Make Fun Of Virginia Tech Thread

Why would you pull academics if VT is ranked higher, is harder to get into, and has higher salary at graduation, and when one of your fellow SEC schools is cancelling school for the national title game. Just stick to football:)

Tennessee admits 64% of applicants.
Va Tech admits 65% of applicants.

Va Tech is also bolstered by being heavily engineering. If you're not going there for engineering or architecture it is very mediocre. The higher salary is also because of the higher engineering population. That is why Mississippi State has a higher starting salary than Vandy, not because it is a better school. Major by major I'd bet the salaries are very comparable. Tennessee might have a slight edge in business, and Va Tech might have a slight one in engineering, but nothing significant. I also don't see what Alabama postponing three days of classes has to do with anything at all.

I got into both Va Tech and Tennessee, but Tennessee has a much better business school than Va Tech, and is much more nationally known. The student body at Tennessee was also a lot cooler, and there is so much more to do. Knoxville is also a much better place than Blacksburg. If someone can get into Tennessee and Va Tech, I don't see how any rational person would choose Va Tech. Then again, not all people are rational.

Sorry, haven't had time to practice posting pictures. Been watching my Tide get ready to roll to the National Championship game. Just a Bama fan getting my laughs at your expense and thought this would be the quickest board to get your attention.

Firstly, I come in peace.
Why are y'all bringing education into a football thread? As HokieHi stated...can't we just stick to football? Hopefully these 2 links will end the 'education' discussion.

Can someone start a thread for discussion of this game? Since I just joined and do not yet have 20 posts I am not allowed to start a thread. I wasn't able to watch much UT football this year so I'd like to learn more about your team, and i don't think the 'make fun of vt' thread is the place to do it

One of your own brought education up in the first place. After this little NCAA review blows over, there will be plenty of football talk again.

1. What did Virginia Tech's starting linebackers get on their SAT tests? Drool.

2. Why did they have to cancel driver's education classes at Virginia Tech? The mule died.

3. Why do Virginia Tech grads put their diplomas on the dashboards of their cars? So they can qualify for handicapped parking.

4. Why doesn't the Virginia Tech football team have ice on the sidelines? The guy who knew the recipe graduated.

5. What does a Tech student need to have a seven-course meal? A possum and a six pack.

6. How can you tell if a Tech professor is married? There are tobacco stains on both sides of the pickup truck.

7. A U.Va. student visiting Blacksburg is appalled at the conditions in his hotel room. He calls the front desk and tells the clerk, "I've got a leak in my sink!" The front desk clerk replies, "OK, go ahead."

8. What's the difference between Frosted Flakes and the Virginia Tech football team? Frosted Flakes know what to do when they're in a bowl.

9. How many Tech students does it take to change a light bulb? Only one, and he gets four credits for it.

10. Why was the Tech student so proud after completing a jigsaw puzzle? It only took him six weeks, and the box said "3-5 years."

Just for that statement I am coming out of retirement. This is the first post on this forum that pertains to academics.

By saying this you are just continuing the discussion of academics. We DONT have to get the last word in

understandable. have there been any good discussions of football here? i don't feel like reading through 26 pages of mostly vt bashing

Hence why I left. This is the only VT thread that stayed active and all the others became bash the VT program rather than talk about the prospects of the game. I couldn't find a single person that wanted to talk Xs and Os. If any come, I might actually post more. Until then....later.

Well I got an idea for you...How about YOU yes YOU start a thread about X's & O's and start your own discussion...You are allowed to do that instead of coming on the "Make fun of VT" thread and try and get a serious discussion started about the mighty gooblers which We are really going out of our way to make fun of in this thread in case you hadn't noticed....Seriously...Get a clue :search:

Yep. Start a thread. Coming into the thread that was made only to make fun of you is not going to get you anywhere. Many here would be happy to talk some football with you.

That is after hostess-gate blows over. Many people (myself) need a distraction from that anyways. Studying dendrology isn't doing it for me :)

I would gladly start one but board rules won't allow me...only 14 posts to go.
I'm just surprised that none of the (presumably) thousands of ut fans on here haven't started a real one. Maybe the game's just too far away. Should I come back in a couple weeks?

There ya go VTdom. Ill wait for a couple of pages and see if they actually stay on the game rather than the past 100 years of football history.

Do they even have a business school, or is it really that bad??

I know our law school and medical school far outrank theirs (top 50 law.. not sure where medical school is), but we can't mock theirs because they don't have one. People smart enough to be doctors and lawyers in Virginia go to UVa.

yes. they have one. just didn't make the list.
