I think this summarizes the ignorance/arrogance of Va Tech fans that others have mentioned on here. The teams that he was "psh ok" about beat both division champions in the ACC, and that Georgia team beat their conference champion at Ga Tech, a feat Va Tech could not accomplish.... and we blew both South Carolina and Georgia out.
It is also ironic that any ACC team would try to pull the "who have the beaten" argument on any team, let alone the second place team in the SEC east. Who did Va Tech beat? Miami?? NC State?? Virginia?? Boston College?? Duke?? Maryland?? East Carolina?? Marshall?? Psh ok. Va Tech's most impressive victory was against a mediocre Nebraska team that still dominated Va Tech in every aspect of the game except for the score (similar to us at Alabama). It must be nice to play a schedule soft enough that it has seven or eight guaranteed wins built in. Must be boring though. The fact they can even fill up that small stadium of theirs is impressive given the fact they don't play anybody.
I think that many of them believe all conferences are the same, and do not understand that a 7 win SEC team is likely a 9-10 win ACC team... and probably conference champions.
As a Hokie I must present some facts about the 2009 season to help dispel the perception that Va Tech plays a soft schedule.
Vols 2009 record: 7-5
Va Tech 2009 record: 9-3
Vols opponents record in 2009: 80-67
Va Tech opponents record in 2009: 88-60
Record of the teams that the Vols lost to: 46-16
Record of the teams that Tech lost to: 32-6
SEC is sending 10 teams to bowls
ACC is sending 7 (not bad for an inferior conference)
ACC Team Statistics:
Georgia Tech is ranked second nationallly in rushing offense and fourth in total offense (no SEC team is higher).
Va Tech is ranked 16th in rushing (Ryan Williams a red-shirt freshman is tied for fifth nationally in rusing TDs)
Duke is ninth nationally in passing and receiving (no SEC team is higher).
Clemson is second nationally in tackles.
Didn't see Tennessee ranked in any of the categories except kickoff returns.
Vols opening day opponent went winless (Western Kentucky).
Va Tech played Alabama on opening day (and not at home).
Vols played 4 away games.
Va Tech played 6 away games including opening day against Alabama.
Va Techs other two losses were to Georgia Tech (ACC champion and Orange Bowl bound) and North Carolina (finished 8-4).
The Vols lost to a UCLA team that finished 6-6.
One more thing, Tech beat Nebraska and from what I saw Saturday they were a better team than Texas and deserved to win that game (not to mention they have the most dominant defensive player in the country).
So if Tech has a soft schedule I guess that means the Vols have an even softer schedule.
BTW, the Vols opening day opponent next year is Tennessee-Martin (according to GOVOLSXTRA.com). The toughest team they play on a yearly basis is Memphis. Talk about soft scheduling.
I have also read comments on this thread questioning the intelligence level of people living in SW VA. Here is a quote from a literacy study about Tennessee:
"More than half of adult Tennesseans can barely read a street map, find information in an article, or calculate postage for their mail".
Look forward to a great game in Atlanta. Go Hokies!

Didn't see Tennessee ranked in any of the categories except kickoff returns. - obviously you didn't look too hard
Vols opening day opponent went winless (Western Kentucky).
Va Tech played Alabama on opening day (and not at home).
Vols played 4 away games. @ Florida and @ Bama - yeah those were easy
Va Tech played 6 away games including opening day against Alabama.
Va Techs other two losses were to Georgia Tech who got beat by a wonderful UGA team (ACC champion and Orange Bowl bound) and North Carolina (finished 8-4).
The Vols lost to a UCLA team that finished 6-6.
One more thing, Tech beat Nebraska and from what I saw Saturday they were a better team than Texas and deserved to win that game (not to mention they have the most dominant defensive player in the country). right and they one that game how? on a last ditch hail mary - they got dominated by neb. and won on a fluke play at the end of regulation
Right and playing Oregon, Florida, Bama and LSU next season is "easy"

I never gave VPI fanws much thought until this a$$hat decided to show up!!
I think everyone on here that said Va Tech fans were delusional has been proven correct.
Never have I seen a team this arrogant, with so little to be arrogant about.
I hope we do what LSU did to them in 2007 (beat them by 40 points). To give you another idea of how bad the ACC is, that Va Tech team that lost by 40 points at LSU, still won the conference. The next year they lost to East Carolina, and still won the conference.
When was the last time the SEC champion had a loss to a non BCS opponent? Certainly not once during the BCS era.
Well while we're looking at numbers...As a Hokie I must present some facts about the 2009 season to help dispel the perception that Va Tech plays a soft schedule.

um i know i know im one of the first to say no hot women this is a make fun of thread but dang
Q: What happens when you drive slowly through Blacksburg?
A: You get a degree.
Q: Why do Va. Tech grads hang their diplomas on their rear view mirrors?
A: They have to show some proof that they deserve to park in that handicap parking space.
Q: What's the difference between the Va. Tech Hokies and Frosted Flakes?
A: Frosted Flakes know what to do when they are in a bowl.
Why would you pull academics if VT is ranked higher, is harder to get into, and has higher salary at graduation, and when one of your fellow SEC schools is cancelling school for the national title game. Just stick to football![]()

Actually, I looked up the statistics for the 2009 freshman class for both schools. I'm an UT Alum so naturally I have to defend academics. BOTH schools had an average high school GPA of 3.8 and an average ACT score of 26. Not really too different in the academic arena. And who knows...Va Tech may also feel propelled to cancel school for a National Title game if the opportunity ever presented itself. Hard to pass judgement on a program when you don't have much experience in the area.
That's what I was thinking when I opted for Comm instead of English freshman year.
