If you think getting talent out of Florida was difficult to begin with, then we just got thrown out of the state by the Gators. When a recruit sees what Meyer just did to UT and is considering both schools, who are they gonna choose??

g8terh8ter, apparently, we have people on this board who don't care that it hurt our recruiting or they are too dumb to realize it.You can tell the ones because instead of showing their disgust for Fulmer, they try to make us feel unloyal and silly for trying to get this "fire fulmer ball".rolling.It seems that if they agreed with us on phil Fulmer, they would either post some dissappointments themselves or say nothing instead of trying to make us feel like we aren't making a dent in anything.

The only problem is is that if you cant coach em up recruiting doesnt do you much good.

We haven't made a dent in anything in a long time. We can't stay consistent on a week-to-week basis on both sides of the ball. We need help on the defensive side of the ball and the best state of defensive talent is Florida, IMO. We will be lucky to keep a couple of the recruits we have as of right now. Tauren Poole is gone and we can kiss him goodbye. We can recruit VERY well, but we can't "coach up" the talent we have right now. The only player we have with natural talent on D is Berry and even he doesn't get a pass on this one the way he played except for the 96-INT for a TD.

I don't understand how you can routinely have Top 5, Top 10 recruiting classes without finishing in the Top 10 when it counts.

I hate to be cast as a Nega-Vol, but, after today, that's it. Enough is enough. When Hamilton made his statement after the Outback Bowl about expecting X amount of Division titles in T years, Y amount of SEC titles in U years, and Z amount of BCS bowls in V years, if you read between the lines, he basically said Fulmer had two more years to win the SEC again. Well, I think all realistic hope of winning the SEC in the next two years is shot.

Sorry G8terh8ter, HS kids do not get as wrapped up in these scores as you do.

You dont think seeing your prospective college, the place that could set you up to be a millionaire in the NFL with the right coaching, getting 59 points hung on them, and looking VERY bad while doing it, affects a 17 year olds decision making process? Wow.

I am in Gainesville. Gator fans talk about Fulmer the way Kentucky fans talked about Buzz Peterson in 2005 (though not quite as bad). UK fans truly loved Buzz.

I doubt that scores alone will sway recruits, but the opportunity to play in Urban's offense probably does.

Here is some work for you. Check the 95 UT/UF score then check the 97 and 98 UT results.

Rather than looking up those stats and trying to place a value on the recruiting effects of today's game, I am just going to consider the logic of the other guy's post...I agree with him that today's game was bad for UT's recruiting. How much or how little? I have no idea.

I don't feel like getting too deep into this. One loss is not going to sway a kid that was really interested in us. The state of the overall program is much more damaging than any one loss.

when a kid visits the swamp (which alone can sway his decision) and sees them beat an SEC "powerhouse" rival in Tennessee by 39 points, I think he's sold.

on the other hand, i hope the kids are smart enough to find the school in which they can maximize their opportunities and potential and find immediate playing time.

Notice I said if they are interested in both schools, which happens more often than not. If they aren't interested in the Gators to begin with it doesn't matter too much. Yes this does effect recruiting and if you think it does not then you don't understand the mentality of a 17 year old that sees his name in the lights of the game.

Again I refer you to 95 score, and 97 and 98 results. Great players think they can win anywhere.

I should give you some credit though. You probably fully understand the mentality of a 17 year old.

What does 10-12 years ago have to do with this team??

It is a perfect example that shoots down your theory. Great players came here even after that horrible loss to UF in 95. The overall state of the program is much more worrisome than any one game.

That was my exact thought when I read the first post. It's hard to look much worse than we did in 94 and 95 (plus losing to them in 96 and 97) . . . and we know how 98 turned out.

I agree, but when we were winning championships we did really well in recruiting Florida. That's all but gone now for the most part until we get someone new at the helm.
