It would really suck making a good living doing something you like... What were we thinking...

Teaching pays crap and so does journalism. And according to you you go to college so you can make a good living. Not to mention degrees are overrated. My father has a degree in accounting and was a CPA. He ended up doing work in IT for fedex and qwest before starting his own business. Nothing to do with accounting. Further proof you can learn a trade outside of a university's walls.

I don't think that has much to do with it other than denying the fact that you know you aren't doing what is right. I'll leave it alone, it is just my two cents.

doing what is right is a very broad stroke youre painting. What may be right for you may not be right for me. Furthermore what you think is right at this moment will most likely change drastically over the next five years.

It all depends on what you get your degree in, and trust me a degree doesn't automatically get you the job. I'm looking for a new job as we speak and everyone wants a degree plus 10 years experience... so it just depends. It certainly can help, but it depends on the field as well.

A guy I used to work with got his degree in Communication, and always bragged about it to the point of nausea, yet he made the same amount of money I did. I guess it's relative.

I understand that, and that is a good post. The biggest thing is that you do something with your life that will make you happy and you won't regret. As long as you are happy, go for it.

Yep, you're the one that has to live your life. I will say if you put it off, it's harder to go back, but sometimes people just aren't ready at 18-22 for college.

That is the key ingredient. You won't know if that is the case until it's too late.

Having a degree doesn't guarantee financial success, nor is it required to attain it. I know many successful people who never attended college. I have a degree, and other than it helped get my first job, I could have probably done just as well without it. But the experience and the educational aspect do make it worthwhile.

how about this. My best friends dad never went to college. One of the wealthiest people I know. Ruh roh. Goes both ways. Hell bill gates is a college dropout.

Hey, I"m not trying to push you or pressure you. I'm just saying if school is easy for you, you might as well have a degree to decorate your wall. It's no sweat off your brow. Dickens, what do your parents do?

This thread is supposed to be light and fun, arguing (unless just playing) is for the main board. Come on people.

I will say anyone that can find a way to make fresh water in a cheap, affordable way will be a bahzillionaire. I read something the other day about how a lot of the poorer countries are having this problem, and it's going to be an epidemic in a few years. Add to that the increase of war, natural disasters, etc then you could see why there would be a need.
