The Last Dance - A 10-PART DOCUMENTARY EVENT

It's all about how many shots you take. It's a double edged sword because sometimes you want KD to be more selfish but you also love his awesome shot selection. KD has never taken 35 fga in a game. MJ took 35 fga's 9x in 1987 and 30x in his career.

Some fun stats from Jordan's last 3 Finals series-clinching games:

1996 game 6 = Jordan shot 5/19. The Bulls held the Sonics to 43% and outrebounded them by 16.
1997 game 6 = Jordan missed 20 shots (15/35). The Bulls held the Jazz to 40% shooting and outrebounded them by 14.
1998 game 6 = Jordan missed 20 shots (15/35). His teammates shot 19/32 and the Bulls outrebounded the Jazz by 14.

How many points in each game?

No response so I’m going to break this down on my own:
1996 game 6 Jordan stats
5-19 - 22 points(1.15 points per shot - 11 free throws made) 9 rebounds, 7 assist, & 2 steals - 5 turnovers

Rodman had 19 rebounds and was the only bulls player with more rebounds.

The bulls outside of Jordan averaged 1.10 points per shot. The SS average 1.03 points per shot with Payton leading the way at 1.9 points per shot.

1997 game 6 Jordan stats
15-35 39 points(1.11 points per shot - 8 free throws made), 11 rebounds, 4 assist, 1 steal, block and turnover.

Rodman and Jordan both had 11 rebounds to lead the way.

The bulls outside of Jordan averaged 1.10 points per shot. The Jazz averaged an astronomical 1.32 due to shooting 39 free throws while making 27. Jordan took 10 making 8.

1998 game 6 Jordan stats
15-35 45 points(1.28 points per shot - 12 free throws made), 1 rebound, assist, & turnover, 4 steals.

Rodman had 8 rebounds while 6 bulls players had more rebounds than Jordan.

Bulls players outside of Jordan averaged 1.31 points per shot(not due to free throws). Weird box score in this game.

Of those games 2 players outplayed Jordan, Karl Malone & Gary Payton.

This is insane. Flu game vs. the other 11 Jazz finals matchups:

38 points, 7 boards, 5 assists, 3 steals, 1 block, 3 turnovers, shooting 0.589 TS%

35.9 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 4.5 apg, 1.6 spg, 0.8 bpg, 2.1 topg, shooting 0.518 TS%

Russillo and Lowe rewatched the Bulls/Pacers game 7 and all they're talking about is the rebounding. How many of these closeout games were won on the glass? The Bulls outrebounded this huge Pacers team by 16. They had 22 offensive rebounds. Jordan was 9/25

Grant going off

"He said that I was the snitch, but yet and still after 35 years he brings up his rookie year going into one of his teammate's rooms and seeing coke, and weed and women. My point is: Why the hell did he want to bring that up? What's that got to do with anything? I mean, if you want to call somebody a snitch, that's a damn snitch right there."

"I would say [it was] entertaining, but we know, who was there as teammates, that about 90 percent of it -- I don't know if I can say it on air, but B.S. in terms of the realness of it," Grant said. "It wasn't real -- because a lot of things [Jordan] said to some of his teammates, that his teammates went back at him. But all of that was kind of edited out of the documentary, if you want to call it a documentary."

"When that so-called documentary is about one person, basically, and he has the last word on what's going to be put out there ... it's not a documentary,"

If you heard the story about Jordan taking his food (which wasn't in the doc):

"Anybody [who] knows me, as a rookie, if anybody comes up and tries to snatch my food away, I'm going to do my best to beat their ass," Grant said. "And believe me, back then, I could have took MJ in a heartbeat. Yes, it's true that he told the flight attendant, 'Well, don't give him anything because he played like crap.' And I went right back at him. I said some choice words that I won't repeat on here. But I said some choice words and stood up. 'If you want it, you come and get it.' And of course, he didn't move. He was just barking. But that was the story.

Magic nails it

“First of all, let’s not take anything away from LeBron James,” Johnson said. “Because LeBron James is a great basketball player, one of the all-time greatest that’s ever played the game. LeBron James to me, when you think about all-around basketball players, he’s probably the best of all time … but when you want to say ‘who’s the greatest ever’ it’s still Michael Jordan.”

“Now, LeBron James’ chapter is not closed yet. He still has some basketball to play. So maybe he has a chance to catch him later on if he can get some more championships under his belt.”

“But at the end of the day they’re both great and they played the game the right way, they made their teammates better and they won championships. And thank God for LeBron, because right now that’s what we’re watching, we’re watching LeBron James. This is his time, this is his era, and he’s dominating this era.”

Paraphrasing Barkley's comments on the dream team experience:

"We practiced every day. We had battles every day. There were times where it was all about me and Malone going at each other. The doc focused on one scrimmage that makes MJ look good."

Barkley took a pay cut so Pippen could join the Rockets and then bailed after one year. Gives even more context to Pippen bashing Barkley. What a dick

Am I missing something, Pippen was traded to Houston right? He didn't sign there as a FA - I know he asked to be traded out, but it wasn't like him and Chuck cut a deal or something.

I may be remembering it completely wrong, but I don't think Barkley really "bailed". He had some kind of major injury and missed a ton of games his last year and hung it up.

It was a sign and trade that Pippen agreed too so he can get more money. Chuck was an upcoming FA and took less money so they would be able to complete the sign and trade.

He ruptured his quad tendon and retired.

Did he and Scottie have a deal to play together? I know Pip probably wanted to be traded to a contender but did he specifically say he wanted to go to Houston with Chuck?

I am struggling to see where Pippen has to feel obligated to Charles in this scenario unless they colluded behind the scenes to make it happen only to see Pippen leave after 1 season. Pippen is no saint, but he made one long, bad financial decision that helped a team for almost a decade. Why would anyone be surprised by his selfishness after that?

I think he meant Pippen bailed (asked to be traded and was sent to Portland when he wanted LAL).
