LOL hardly, I’m one of the optimists. I just don’t have a hard on for a mediocre coach that can’t keep it in his pants
Sorry man...I was honestly just kidding. I've been labeled a Nega for years now. We disagree on Kiffin...but that's ok.

I don’t know if it’s been stated already or not but I’m listening to Basilio and he just said he knows for a fact Lane Kiffin reached out to our booster base today and he wants the job. He even checked back to his phone to see what time he got the call and said that’s 100% fact. Whether they consider him or not idk but I’d take him in a heartbeat the people that are saying noooo must not like winning

I don’t care anything about him. I’m going by his results. What in his results makes you think he will be anything more than an 8-4 coach here? If you don’t want more than that then that’s fine as that’s an improvement over Pruitt for sure. I agree we need an offensive coach but I don’t see Kiffin as a HR hire like some. He’s not a bad hire but he’s far from a slam dunk. I’ve been “studying football” for decades now and have played plenty. That literally means nothing as to whether Kiffin is a good coach or not and whether he would work out here or not.
Tennessee needs to be revived. We haven’t had a pulse in 10 years. Yes I think he’s a great coach but the intangible of excitement that he would provide along with coaching is what we need at this specific moment. We can agree to disagree on his abilities but you can not argue that he would create a buzz in recruiting and fan interest on a national scale

Year 1 was promising under Kiffin, that’s why. Blowing out Georgia, losing to the Gumps by 2 (who went on to win the NC that year), kept it within 10 against Florida, etc. Some of you are just too butthurt about him leaving and can’t let it go. He was showing very promising results in his one and only year.
He just signed an extension with ole sis.....why would we want someone who would bail on an extension he signed 3 weeks ago? He has the ethics of a highwayman.....I don't believe in winning at all costs....Besides, his buyout is enormous

Never will be considered period. He screwed way too many power people on his way out the door. Fired at USC, fired at Bama, fired by Layla. Honestly don’t know what the attraction is for some.

1. He provided the most entertaining season UT has had since 1998.

2. He's still young.

3. More experience than about anyone out there.

4. He would like to come here (unless he has found a home at Ole Miss).

5. I believe he has the knowledge and ability at this stage of his career to build a dynasty on the level of a Clemson or Bama.

Edit: As has been said before, what coach would you least like UT to play against? That is the coach that Tennessee needs to hire (The Saban's are already taken).

Yes, we have to think outside the box, and forgive past transgressions, but it's this kind of boldness that will bring championships, not hiring safe has-beens or a coach from a lower level.

I’m not butt hurt about anything. I don’t care what he did when leaving as that was forever ago now. However, what in his coaching career makes you think he will win big here? He won 7 games his first and only year. Everywhere he has been he shows flashes but it never pans out. Why will this time be different?

That’s fair. I can understand that even if I don’t think he would be a long term solution. Of course, given our current situation, we might not be able to hire a long term solution right now. He would absolutely be an upgrade and would generate excitement.

I mean you can want, speculate and sing his praises all you want but it isn’t going to happen. He pissed off too many people, too many of the wrong people.

It’s like if your daughter had a boyfriend that dropped an upper decker in the toilet, that guy ain’t getting back in your house no matter how much he’s reformed.

He is older, and I've heard, much more mature. He has bounced around a lot, and might just be ready to settle down.

He also knows the lay of the land here.

Kiffen is a Catch-22 unfortunately. He ditched us after 1 year because he was too immature to be a head coach back then. If he leaves Ole Miss after 1 year, it proves he still is. So either he's ready to be a head coach, in which case he won't leave Ole Miss after 1 year, or isn't ready to be a head coach, in which case we don't want him here continuing to setback our program.

If we're once again looking for a head coach in 3 or 4 years, maybe he'll be ready for a change. This year, we should look elsewhere.

Blackburn is the no-brained there right? He was last time.
Wasn't there something weird about how he left UTC? Like just up and resigned and then took some type of lesser (consulting?) job with MTSU? I may not be remembering it correctly

I’m all for this. The guy would’ve had multiple sec championships and possible nc’s here by now. He made a huge mistake by leaving, but sh*t happens.
You might want to check your temperature. I think you have a very high fever.

Kiffin was a terrible hire in 2008, but would be a good hire in 2021. He was too immature back then. He's a much better coach now. Johnny Majors wanted him in 2017 and Johnny knew a thing or two about hiring good coaches.

But I don't see it happening.

I trust your judgement DG.

If he was such a terrible choice back then, I wonder why people were so mad when he left? He must have done a lot (in my opinion, he did).

I see that it would take a lot of courage, but as I said, that's what it would take to

Finebaum is reveling in the chatter this afternoon. Guess the rates for advertisers are rising. Crazy day, folks.
