The Kerry Blackshear Thread

Sounds like he’s saying he thinks he goes to Tennessee, without coming out and saying “I think it’s tennessee”

I'm thinking the same thing, assuming that it wasn't a TN fan who asked him a question and he answered. If he brought up TN unprompted, that's a great sign, but obviously no guarantee.

Evan Daniels saying Sunday at the latest and possibly earlier, very well may be done taking visits and not bother with A&M OV.

And fwiw Daniels has had info before most in this recruitment, so he’s obviously got some people close to Blackshear talking to him...I can’t even imagine if Barnes beats Calipari for a recruit.

They’ve been “favorites” the last couple years,
I think it’s probably splitting hairs if you’re talking about the 4th best team and 10th best team and that at that point either could go on a run.
2 vs 16... I think it’s two different levels

Well yea, a lot of Cal’s teams have been a F4 caliber team that always fell short of expectations.

One national title with what, 26 NBA draft picks he’s had at UK?

Barnes may not the be the recruiter Cal is but I believe his development of players is as good as anyone in the country.

That’s one of the best selling points for Tennessee.
Not sure if you're agreeing or disagreeing, but we are saying the same thing.

We shouldnt skip a beat this year if we land Blackshear.

I would imagine us selling him the Grant Williams role would be why we land him.

James will be better than Bone, but swapping a junior for a freshman is huge... although Turner as the primary ball handler helps. I'd still rather have Bone pushing the ball though.

Alexander and Grant would have pretty good replacement options, but Jalen Johnson, Pons, Gaines, Fulk, or Pember will have to really play way over expectations to come close to filling Admiral's shoes.

Even with Blackshear I'd expect a step back. But they could still have a better run in the NCAAT.

Its exactly what we did sell. Williams even helped recruit Blackshear to UT, and he loves our guards knowing he'll have some great looks and opportunities. Williams is still actively recruiting KJ.

I think that both Turner and Bowden are shot first types, but James could be a pass first guard. But TN has really good passers up and down the lineup. Blackshear definitely gets lots of good looks if he lands at TN.

if we have anywhere near the success that we had this year ( I'm talking number of games won) then Barnes is an exceptional coach. We just lost our top 3 scorers, 4 of the top 6 scorers, our 2 leaders, and the 2 time SEC player of the year. James may end up being a better player than Bone, but he won't be a better PG. We have some serious holes to fill.

I don't know if we land him, but it is shaping up as a really good possibility. With him only spending 24 hours at UK, I would have to think we are the odds-on favorite, even if only slightly.

How often has UT beaten UK for a recruit in basketball? I honestly can't think of one (that they actually wanted). Tobias Harris? I didn't follow recruiting that hard then, so I don't know if they really pursued him that hard.
