Bham explained it's like a grand jury in the house. If so, Nancy should have no influence in the trial besides her indictment.Good question. That's how it is supposed to work. The wily Dems however, are now holding tight to the articles and saying they will only deliver to the Senate once the Senate has agreed to the Dems' terms for the trial i.e. that the Dems will be able to call certain witnesses and get all the documents they desire...
The plot thickens!
I don't know who 'they' are but I agree that his supporters and detractors are nothing if not slightly more entrenched. People in the middle probably won't be moved much, some will ride or die with his economic success others less so.
Clinton was damn site more popular then trump. Secondly, the Dems were excellent at claiming it was a moral failing of Clinton’s. Hell two of them did it on here today. Instead of the real reason for Clinton’s perjury which was to prevent discovery that he had a history of inappropriate conduct with subordinates. And the GOP did a crap job explaining it.I can base it on how impeachment galvanized the left for Clinton. I believe it will do the same for the right.
Pelosi noncommittal on delivering impeachment articles to SenateThe trial cannot begin???
I thought the House initiated the trial and it continues in the senate. That not correct?
You are right. Also, a key factor is that 3rd party candidates received 5.3% of the popular vote in 2016. That is higher than normal and it is a sign that there were many voters who didn't like either Trump or Clinton but still wanted to cast a vote anyway. There is no way to know what those people will do if it is Trump vs Biden. It is a different dynamic.More or less then those who supported him initially bc of who he was running against the first time? More or less then those who sit in the sidelines bc they don’t approve of his conduct?
I think everybody knew who Trump was before the last election. I have seen no surprises from him. He is who I thought he was, and he will get all 3 of my votes again. I have homes in 3 states, 2 of which are swing states.More or less then those who supported him initially bc of who he was running against the first time? that's one key to 2020 - if the economy stays out of recession then this will be a positive for Trump.
the other key is who the Dem nominee is. Biden still looks to be the best chance for getting the middle but I have my doubts he'll look physically/mentally with it. Warren/Sanders would need a massive economic meltdown to win the middle. Mayor Pete is a wildcard.
I have to disagree. I think there were millions who said we can’t have Hillary. Off the top of my head I know both my in laws and my mom voted for trump. All three say they won’t this time. My FL one caveat is if it’s Bernie or Warren. I know that’s just my personal experience but I think it holds a lot of water. People HATE Hillary.I think everybody knew who Trump was before the last election. I have seen no surprises from him. He is who I thought he was, and he will get all 3 of my votes again. not my area of expertise - none of this is tied to criminal procedure so I wouldn't be surprised if she could hold it.
I believe each party picks a "manager" as interface with the Senate. She'll control that on the Dem side. Hilarious (but predictable) that Dems are demanding Amash be the R side manager.
My understanding was that the Dems wanted Amash to be their manager in order to make it look less partisan.not my area of expertise - none of this is tied to criminal procedure so I wouldn't be surprised if she could hold it.

But it's true that the Trump White House counsel went to great lengths to fight handing over the whistleblower complaint to Congress. The complaint was submitted to the office of the IG on August 20th. Congress is supposed to get it within 15 days. They did not get it for 4 weeks. The White House counsel knew it was bad. They also knew they had to release the hold on that military aid before the House Oversight Committee got a hold of that complaint. The chronology of events here is really very damning for Trump.
