The "Im Hoping We Lose Crowd" is Growing

It does not matter if I root for them to win or lose. It will not change the outcome. Their fate is in their own hands. If they win, good for them. I will be pleasantly surprised. If they lose, well I'll take a quote from a famous movie, "You have the see the good in everything".

It finally appears that those with more decision making authority understand that as well. A huge string of losses is not going to help make that more clear.

Jimmy Hyams said today that he was told by a booster that Fulmer is gone if he gets only 6 wins, for whatever that's worth. I can't bring myself to hope the Vols lose, though. I'd rather see Fulmer get it turned around and not get fired than to see more embarrassing losses, but it ain't looking very likely.

There is no hope for the fans to have their cake and eat it too. We want the Vols to win and Fulmer gone. The only way that would happen is if Fulmer resigned and gave the fanbase some optimism going into next year...

Well first off, I can't believe anything Hyams says.

Secondly, if that story about the booster is true, what is the real difference between 6-6 and 7-5? How is one win one way or the other gonna give you anymore hope that Fulmer is the guy to get us an SEC title in the next 20 years?

In all seriousness, after watching that postgame presser, I hope Coach considers retirement sometime soon. I'm fearful for his health if this continues much longer.

If you're rooting against Tennessee, you're tool who needs to GTFO of here. Look I wanna coaching change as bad as anyone, but I'm not rooting against my program.

I keep thinking about this guy that called one of the radio shows a few weeks ago and said he was becoming a USC fan - then they lost to Oregon State. :eek:lol:

That seems more likely this season than in any one that preceeded it. But, this team can't touch Alabama... maybe UGA. And, we'll struggle against the balance of the schedule after NIU.

I think some people need to just grow up and realize that this is just how football goes. Sometimes you're up and sometimes you're down. In a few years the gators will probably have a sucky season or two. Yeah maybe we do need a new coach, but that doesn't mean you go making negative wishes on the team. But I guess that's where being a real fan comes in.

The problem is that you've got the premise completely wrong. I WANT the Vols to win but I THINK Fulmer needs to step aside for ultimate success.

We both think that Fulmer needs to step aside; the difference is that I wouldn't mind being proven wrong.

The gators already had a sucky season last year (by gator standards) and are embarking on a sucky one this year. However, they have beaten Tennessee four years in a row. I'm a real fan and those are real facts.

If we continue to lose... will the hotel room rates go down? B/c damn, it's hard to spend $250 bucks for one night in an average at best hotel.

9 years is long enough to hold out hope and for Fulmer to prove the doubters wrong. If Fulmer could have won an SEC title since 1998, I would have no problem with that. I've just lost faith.

I don't have much faith either . . . which is why I think he's run his course. Still, that doesn't mean I don't hope for a win on Saturday.

That's extreme, ok. But its like a guy I know who is pulling for the US to lose the war in Iraq just because he told his friends that we would.

SO glad people are finally supporting my viewpoint.

As I stated on this board Friday evening, it's GOT to get worse before we can ever hope it gets remotely better.

I hope TN beats Bama...other than that, hell, let them lose every game...which is a possibility at this point...

We started paying. Now, start winning.

I simply can not believe your extreme response! You are assuming a lot when you say crap like that... I don't hope the Vols lose... nobody does on this board, even those who say F it and to hell with it, it's just emotional! We're freaking in mourning and everyone mourns differently. How dare you compare UT football, however important it is, to those traitors and losers that protest soldiers funerals. I'm pissed at you.. I'll just say it. I'm a Republican and I love my country and I love the soldiers and our national defense and freakin college football are two totally different things. YOU get it straight!

I totally agree, we are due a complete and total upset and surprise and I'm gonna be there to see it. I feel it is going to be Alabama... I just has to be! My neighbor is such a horrible person and she loves AL.. You can pick those redneck idiots out of a crowd...

if you ever pull for UT to lose in ANYTHING EVER. You are no fan.

I believe you think in simple terms. Regardless of who I "pull for" has no impact on the outcome. The sad reality, in my humble opinion, is that Hamilton cannot, or will not, make the decision that needs to be made. Fulmer has been lackluster (overall) since winning the whole enchilada in 1998. I feel that the only thing that will force Hamilton to make a change is, sadly, a losing season. I'll draw you an analogy, your foot has gangrene, do you let it continue to fester and eventually kill you, or do you amputate it? Difficult decisions require difficult solutions.

But you don't hope that the gangrene spreads over your whole leg before you do something about it.

You got it Mr. Wells! I hate to compare Phil Fulmer to gangrene, as it is not fair at all (although, fair is a 4-letter word that starts with "f" and comes to town once a year to judge pigs), however it gets my point across. I do find all of this very sad, though. I just think he's lost his edge and should have retired gracefully last year. Now he's #1 in the hotseat poll. I find it hard to pity, though, looking at his compensation package. You could throw rocks at me all day long for much less.
