The "Im Hoping We Lose Crowd" is Growing

I'm not rooting for the the VOLS to lose but the writing is on the wall, folks. If we win just barely enough games this year, CPF gets to stay on the gravy train and you all know what that will get us - MORE OF THE SAME!

There were lots and lots of threads on here over the past few months about VOL fans becoming complacent with a mediocre team. Over the past few days, those comments are being reinforced every minute. All this talk of continued support for our crappy team is only going to insure that we keep sucking well into the future.

CHANGE MUST COME NOW.
the thing is, that the writing has been on the wall for several years and most don't need more losses to understand it. It finally appears that those with more decision making authority understand that as well. A huge string of losses is not going to help make that more clear.

What would bring clarity and the much needed change?
the past 7 years have done that. We're on our way now. The attitude shift across Vol land could not be more apparent to me and being the topic now on national sports shows proves that even the objective folks out there see the problems.

Agreed. Lots of talk on the national scene and in VOL country. However, it seems like Hamilton has ear muffs on. I guess the downward spiral of the $$$$$ will bring him some clarity.

i dont think its about hoping they lose or winning 6, 7, or even 8 games. empty seats at rocky top. . .lots of empty seats and phil will be out.

Coaching change? yes
bench Crompton? yes
booing? not for me, but i can understand the frustration.
root for my VOLS to lose?! no way, ever!

And no, I am not gonna hook arms with Fulmer and Crompton and sing kumbaya. :p

Have a cousin who played for UT back in the 60's. He would never say such a thing and never will I.

hope they lose?! NO, NO NO!!

now, back to our regularly sheduled program....:salute:

The people that hope we lose are an absolute disgrace to the vol nation that is the dumbest thing I have ever heard of.

I am with you...... I want the kids to do well and succeed and I want to enjoy the games........

In the end..... Fulmer needs to go!

I agree with you. It would be nice, but unfortunately, in order for Fulmer to get let go, we will have to lose.

That said, I hate losing and I want to win every week.

I wish Fulmer would just do the University a favor and resign.

If you are going to tell me that winning 6 games this year, next year and the year after will keep things the same, then by all means I am hoping that we lose to get a change made. This program has been limping for the last 5 years and backed into the SEC Championship game last year.

I don't like to lose, but I can take it when the team is competitive. However, when it totally looks as if they are out classed or out coached on the field something needs to be done and it will not be done without dire circumstances arising (that means losing games and loss of income to the athletic program).

So if you’re happy having a program that pays for gold (top recruiting budget and elite facilities) and only getting tin (losses and looking outclassed and played by the opponents) by all means sit on your high horse and say that I am above pulling for them to lose. As for me, I expect gold when gold is being paid for.

I would love for Fulmer to really look at this situation and come to the conclusion that there needs to be a change and that he is no longer getting the job done and step down on his own. However, few are able to be that objective about themselves and when it is time to step down.

The events of this year mirror the events of last year(so far).

Everyone thought Fulmer was done. Embarrasment at the hands of FLA and Bama. He ended up getting a new contract with some crazy incentives.

We still have at least a couple of more losses to go before anything is really decided on Fulmer.

I sure miss the good old days when the the discussions revolved around the latest Vol victory or good news on the recruiting front or trying to decide whether to go to our bowl game or not. Now it's nothing but an endless stream of why/if/when/who questions about Fulmer ad nauseum. Not that a resolution doesn't need to happen soon for the good of the program, but it's just damn depressing.

In other words, y'all only want to be fans when it's easy.

Not at all. I'm an alumni and been a fan for over 40 years. Unfortunately, I think the ONLY way Hamilton will make any change is a horrible season. Justification for this is his lackluster skill at contract negotiation. The man has questionable intellectual skills. To use an old cliche, he'll need to get hit by a ton of bricks to get his attention.

So, where's Bill Battle's moving van? Send one to Hamilton's house, too.

Tennessee fans are far and wide a pretty insecure group. I think the Fire Fulmer crowd has grew it's membership by the thousands since Sept. 1st.

Change is coming. Don't worry.

Every fan base is when the team is losing. UT fans are no different.

If you're rooting against Tennessee, you're tool who needs to GTFO of here. Look I wanna coaching change as bad as anyone, but I'm not rooting against my program.

This is where I run into problems. I don't count my pride in my team or in my state in dollars. For that matter, I'd like to know who's paying all this gold. If it pains you so much, why don't you stop paying and quit kvetching about it?

If for any reason, you're willing to cheer for another team against the Vols, then you're not a Vols fan. You'll never catch me doing it.

You want misery? Try being a Cleveland Browns fan.

At least UT has never gone away entirely for three years only to be replaced by a series of inept clowns that became a whipping boy for the freakin' Bengals.

We haven't played Georgia or Alabama yet. I would love to win the rest of the games this year but if somebody wanted to bet with me on it I couldn't bet on Tennessee.
