The Great 2022 and Beyond Recession Thread

Well now I know you’re reading. What’s your take? @Weezer wouldn’t nibble at the stink bait.

Edit: no he didn’t I missed his reply
SS was the largest way liberals could make large swaths of people dependent upon them. Both parties have raped the fund. At some point, many will receive a small fraction of what they put in. My long term plan does not include it. But I ain't sending back if I do get it

Yep. Completely agree. I’m all on board with us all being pissed off about the state of Social Security. Let’s just make sure our collective righteous fury is directed in the correct direction.

We will have to be ready to smash any leftist movement that rises up. On the other hand, we also have to be ready to push our influence on the rest of the world. Not gonna be easy.

I cannot believe @LouderVol hasn’t come on here yet guns blazing
I dont think I have ventured into this thread to follow the shenignas. Looks like socialist retirement is the topic.

Government mandated personal 401ks for every citizen. The current SS rate stays the same. Half of it goes into your private account, half of it goes to the general fund to be divided up for all those that need the help and arent contributing to their own. Normal rules for 401ks remain except max contributions. You could even choose a Roth to be selected at age of adulthood and can only be changed up to two or three times.

All the taxes and fees associated with 401ks go into the neediest 401ks.

No guarenteed minimums, but purely controlled by the individual. The needy still get help, while the contributors dont get fully hosed by the socialism. Makes everyone an investor, bringing more attention to the what the markets are doing, and removes the stigma of it only being a tool for the rich. And during recessions *cough cough* even the poor are going to care that the government screwed up the economy.

Would also hopefully curb the government from going after private retirement funds in the future as means of unjust taxation.

It’s the obvious change. As well as taxable income increases.
First eliminate the spousal benefit (not the death benefit) which is an antiquated idea. Personally, I believe the spousal benefit is a huge driver behind the push to legalize gay marriage. In today’s economy, why should someone be rewarded with an additional 50% of their spouse’s benefit because they chose to not work outside the home? If a couple budgets to live on a single income then that’s great and totally their business but they shouldn’t be rewarded with a social security monthly check for choosing not to contribute payments into the system. What' sad or perhaps more accurately bittersweet, in my case my SS which I've been collecting for about 18 months now, only pays about 7.5% of my tax burden.

The hell with means testing!

( Yes, I need a new accountant. )
How is that sad? Sounds like you’ve got a ton of income so good times for you! Well done sir
