The Golf Thread

If you have a slight draw or fade you can be equally successful with either. If you're hitting a wedge or short iron it really doesn't matter. The only time I really try to work the ball is off the tee & only when it's absolutely necessary. Only other time is if I'm in trouble.
I probably work it too much.

I think shot shape every time I pull a club.

I want to get some opinions. There's a pretty nice course about 2 minutes from my house. They're offering a player development program for $35/month. You get unlimited range balls, unlimited twilight golf, 10%discout in the pro shop and some other things. Is this a good deal?

It's a great deal
You should definitely sign up

Anyone know of a putter and 3 wood for a decent price?

Anything more specific? A lot of today's putters are the same as they were 5-10 years ago just with a different insert or something like that. I've had an odyssey DFX 2-ball for years & it's still as good as anything new to me. You should be able to get something reasonable & good just not new. I have an old Taylor made burner 3 wood with the old bubble shaft that I still love but went with a newer club because it's easier to hit off the deck. It use to be money off the tee with that thing.

Well my 3 wood is from my first set of clubs, it's a p.o.s. I want something new. My putter is ok, but it's the mallet style and I want a blade

There's a lot of good ping putters out there that are the blade design & they don't change much. Same with odyssey. Any major manufacterer really. There's quality clubs that are 5+ years old especially putters & fairway woods. Look on eBay you can get some really good deals on older clubs.

Drive down to Kennesaw to the PGA Tour Superstore. They've got loads of used equipment there.

I don't want to seem like billy c with all these questions, but do any of you use spikeless shoes? I see some online that I like but I don't want to buy some and not get good grip

I was going to kennesaw Friday to go to golfsmith. I'm not sure where the superstore is, can you tell me what it's around?
Ha. I didn't know there was a Golfsmith in Kennesaw. The Superstore is on the opposite side of the interstate almost parallel to the Golfsmith on the Town Center Mall side of the exit.

Are you talking spikeless as in the kind without metal spikes or spikeless as in these trendy shoes that look like deck shoes and have bars or knobs on them?

These are the ones I'm talking about

I have a whole set of clubs for sale if anybody is looking for some. I've had them for about 2 years and have probably only played 15 rounds of golf with them.

Ping G5 irons 4-9, S wedge, U wedge

Ping G5 18 degree 5 wood

Cleveland Hi-Bore xls 9.5 driver

Mizuno bettinardi A01 black putter

Comes with a brand new black/white titleist bag and I'll throw in a ton of Nike/pinnacle/titleist golf balls too.

I've never had a problem with any of the clubs I just never play anymore and they could do somebody else some good.

If you're interested let me know pretty soon and I'll send some pictures and we'll work it out before I put them on Craigslist.

I've still got that same 3 wood in a spare bag
Love that club

I've got a neighbor that still uses the 5 wood

I've seen you post that before and I don't relate at all. I've seen plenty of live golf and they move the ball all the time based on conditions. I agree that a slight draw is probably the predominant shot, but a lot of the longer hitters especially favor a left to right ball flight.

Nicklaus predominantly played a fade. Woods, when at his very best, has played a fade. Hogan played a fade. Norman plays a fade. Watson works it both ways. Faldo plays a fade. Snead played a draw. Nelson played a draw. McIlroy plays a fade.

I agree most predominantly play a draw, but the very best hit fades
