The Golf Thread

Just got done regripping my Dad's clubs - Big Bertha irons with the original grips. It was a pure cuss-fest.

He plays a lot and refuses to wear a glove, so I put on Winn Excels. It's the softest thing I could find.

nice
I play the tour velvets, but put a winn excel on a 2 iron last year to try it out.

it is very soft, liked it, but not sure I'll do my whole set at 5-6 bucks a grip

I used to hate them, but I'm thinking about going to them on every club. I've got one on my Driver and have really liked it. The only problem with them is that if you play a lot, they tend to wear down a little quicker than usual.

I went from Excels back to full cords and this past year I went to the New Decade Multi Compound on my irons and fell in love with their feel and grip. Now every club in my bag has them except for the wedges. I didn't like how quickly the Winns wore down and I think part of it was because of how much my hands sweat

It probably wasnt the sweat. Winns just suck for longevity. Especially if you clean them much like I do. I'm back to just plain ole midsize tour wraps.

might be. I got to play more golf this year than I have in the last 3 years and these grips still feel almost new. I have no reason to change the grips this year.

not really much to choose from this week.

a. Mike Weir
b. Fred Couples
b. Brian Gay
c. Paul Azinger

bench:

a. Justin Leonard
b. Steve Sticker
b. David Toms
c. Tom Pernice, Jr.

I'd start JL over Weir, as he's been playing well.

Go Boom Boom.

Go Boom Boom.

i meant to start JL actually, but forgot that the Hope starts today, and not tomorrow, so i'm locked in to Weir. if i want to go with JL, i'll have to burn a start.

got it.

Seems to me that golf fantasy is a bit of a potluck anyway. Good info might help a little, but presumably not very much.

yeah, it's mostly luck. this was a free league, so i took the bait.

there's isn't a guy on tour who can't put up a 65 one day and a 75 the next. there's very few who are a sure thing week to week.

for once, my own irresponsibility paid off.

not sure what happened to Zinger. he was listed as entered all week according to Yahoo, but didn't play today.

well folks, I hate to rub it in...But I played today in pants and a polo, with perfect weather. It was about 74-70 degrees, you couldn't ask for a more beautiful day. I birdied one and then proceeded to do my imitation of charles barkely for the next 14 holes...
